In the last week or two I have been experiencing pain during and after my bowel movements. As well as blood. This had happened to me a few years ago and it turned out to be nothing, should I be worried. I'm away at school and do not have a family doctor here. Last time I think it was a small tear in the rectum. I know it's not hemerroids I read the symptoms online. Please help, any feedback would be appreciated.

actually ash, until a dcotor has examined you, it could still be hemmorhoids, other differential diagnosis could be a fistula in ano or and anal fissure ( the rectal tear you were describing ) i tend to agree with your diagnosis of a rectal tear though, you did not describe your bowel habits and eating pattern, so i will just presume that you have irregular bowel movements and that when you do have them your stools are really hard, also i will presume that your diet is predominantly protein which increases the stools density... i recommend a high fiber-bulk diet ( carbohydrates ) , they incresease the bulk of your stools which would promote your gastro-colic reflex ( the urge to defecate ) more often, but at the same time the stools stay soft...over the counter stool softeners will also help... however, when you get back home, ask your parents to bring you tp a gastroenterologist, a doctor who specializes in diseases of the gastro-intestinal tract, he/she will probably do a rectal exam and possibly a proctoscopy ( scope inserted in the anus to check out the rectum ) ( ... its as bad as it sounds, really gross ! )...hopefully, its just fissures...

P.S. im an anesthesiologist and i don`t make as much money as my G.I.T. colleagues, but im glad im not one though... peeking through other peoples behind all day to make a living should someday mess up your mind... hopefully i was of some help to you, thanks... : )

Be sure to have regular bowel movements - at least two per day. You can get a stool softener until you become regular, that will soften the stool and keep it from tearing your rectum.
Drink lots of water - this, too, helps against constipation.
If you can find some Aloe Vera, peel the green skin off and cut the clear inside into a suppository shape. Freeze the suppository and insert into the rectum. This will help heal your tissues faster.
The freezing is necessary because otherwise the aloe vera pulp is too slippery to handle and insert.

First, is this rectal bleeding or blood in your stool? There's a big difference.

Either way, since you're a student, go to student health and see a doctor there. Further, just because it doesn't seem to math the symptoms of hemorrhoids doesn't mean that that's not the problem.

Go see a doctor. But you may have internal hemerroids. I would take rectal bleeding very seriously. If you're at school, most of them have nurses you can go too. Good luck!

Hemerroid would be the most common cause.....and easiest to treat. Rectal fissure is more difficult to treat.....

Eat plenty of fiber and water to keep your stools soft, see the doctor when you can, be careful to watch for signs of infection, because that can make everything way worse.

You could have internal hemorrhoids, or you could have a rectal fissure (tear). Another possibility is Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis (two types of imflammatory bowel disease). Celiac disease can also cause symptoms.

A trip to a gastroenterologist might be in order to get a diagnosis.

If you think it's a tear, use a stool softener to let yourself heal.

It sounds like you're young, so it's not likely to be cancer.

If the bleeding persists after 2 weeks go see a doctor or an emergency clinic. Most probably it is just tears.
