Dandruff is flaking from the scalp and it is white. Nits cling to
the hair shaft and are almost colorless. People with head lice
scratch their heads even after they shampoo their hair. It is
a constant scratching. I went through it with my daughter a
few times when she was younger. It is a pain to get rid of. I
didn't want to use harsh chemicals so I used a more natural
approach. I use olive oil to coat her hair and then used a nit
comb to hunt for and remove the nits. I did a few strands at a
time and it took a good hour and a half. Once I got all of the nits out I used the special shampoo to wash her hair. I had to wash
everything in hot water every day for two weeks. I had to bag
up all of her stuffed animals after spraying them with lice spray.
Two weeks later I had to go through the olive oil routine again.
This is a pain but it works.

If you itch like crazy on your scalp, good chance it is head lice. They are nasty and do spread to everybody if you come in contact. I would see a Dr. as they have shampoo's to get rid of those nasy varmits. All, the bedding, cloths must be cleaned as they can multiply. In the old days, they used to shave the kids heads who had them, but now they have more improved products. Go to the drugstore, and ask the pharmacist. Do not wait on this condition, because they will spread. Also, check out the net.

When they go in the yard, grab a rake and start rubbing the prongs back and forth on their heads...kidding. A mom myself, I would go to the grocery store and get the RID agent that you can buy over the counter and use it even if you don't know for sure. Wash all bedding and jackets and get rid of the brushes that you used. Just an idea. Good luck and now I am itchy.
