Of course sin takes away our freewill but God does call and is able to so draw and bring a person to a place where he may choose.
Only in the elect will that drawing finally prevail otherwise none would be saved.
Does this not teach us that we can be saved and stir us to seek Him to prove His grace ?

We are in control of the decisions we make, but as Christians we are to seek God's guidance. Free will enables people to accept or reject Christ. If God were in control of everyone's thoughts and actions, would there be a purpose for laws, or wars, or Hell, for that matter? Free will has been around since the beginning of creation- when Adam and Eve chose to disobey. We have a choice in everything, and this is where God designed free will. Christians are not robots, we are simply guided by the Father. :)

We are supposed to help God with his plan for mankind, but we don't. Many don't even believe in God today, therefore, God is no longer in control. What was written and what was true at the time the Bible was written, doesn't necessarily hold true today.
Let's face it, things have changed drastically, after all it has been 2 millenia since the birth of Christ.

I have been taught all my life that God has given us free will as soon as we were born. He did give us the Ten Commandments to follow, however, we have a free will to follow them or break them. We have a free will to make our own choices. No one can really tell you what to do. If you are a good, kind, and loving person, then you will make the right choices in life. This is my own understanding of FREE WILL.

Free will is used when deciding to go with Jesus or go with the world. From that point on, He is in control, but I can "back slide". When that happens, He uses someone or something else to do what I would have done. Ultimately, whatever I was "formed or created" to do, I will do. Like it or not. Know it or not.
He is in charge at all times, even of those who elect not to believe. The difference is that we who believe are saved. Those who choose not to believe, are not.

God gave us free will hoping we would follow in his footsteps of course we F***ed up and do as we like, the idea is that He made us in His Own Image and we could live on this earth in peace and harmony. But we don't give a toss for all that stuff and just gone destroying the earth and ourselves with it.
HiSon said Love God and Love one another. Must of just hate!!

I have perfect free will. I can choose to do it God's way and get the blessings, or I can do it my way and suffer the consequences.
Not because God punishes me, but because God always has my best interest at heart and so his way will always be the right and best way to do anything. It will be the way that brings maximum blessings to all. Whereas I do not have access to all the information so my way is always going to be sadly lacking and will always lead to problems.
So I have perfect free will. I can choose the blessings or the consequences. And I make that choice every second of every day. We all do.
So which way will you choose today?

I take it you're a Calvinist. I didn't see anywhere in your post about God "wanting" or "hoping" for us to work our will according to his own. I also do not believe we have that ability, and those who do think this, give man far too much credit and pay too little attention to the seriousness of sin as a result of Adam's fall.
So you are right, no free will.

Free will is a comparitive term.
Obviously, I cannot will myself to fly, so there are constraints in what we have free will to accomplish.
However, within the constraints we have great free will.
Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
We choose our own way (free will), but while enroute, God guides our steps (sovereign will).
