This is important for us because Hebrew is the key to becoming more authentically Biblical. In Hebrew, the phrase,"and she shall call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins," is actually a play on words. "…and she shall call His name Yeshua for He will yoshea His people…(Matt.1:21). Both are derived from the root "yesha", to save. So Yeshua means savior, the implications of which are astounding.
Mat.1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

Veer: You know I love ya and mean no disrespect but can Muslims read? The forst and most important way You would know what it means is it is in the Bible and God's word is true. Muslims believe in a weak god not the Yahweh who is the true God always was even thousands of year before Muhammed. Mat.1:21 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
This verse from the bible explains why God wanted his name to be Jesus.
Now if you God to any Hebrew translation page or if you check my previous questions you will see and she shall call His name Yeshua for He will yoshea His people. Which means Mary was to anme him Yeshua(Savior) because he will yoshea (save)his people. This clearly means the man Allah speaks of in your Qu'ran in his native tongue was named Savior. Therefore if Allah called him ISA Allah was WRONG again because ISA in Arabic means Esau who was the brother of Jacob. Jesus was Yeshua which means savior.

I don't think I understand your question, but not being a Hebrew speaker I cannot confirm or reject your claim that it means savior. I've heard that a more accurate translation is messiah.

If you're trying to say that in the Bible it tells us Jesus died for our sins, is the only son of God, or any other such babble, then you're sadly mistaken, but if that's your belief, more power to ya.

Uhhh...You've written, '...Both are derived from the root "yesha", to save. So Yeshua means savior, the implications of which are astounding.' So, what makes you think that it means "savior" and NOT "saved"? Jesus himself was saved because he was a prophet and his people tried to kill him (but didn't succeed!!!). And I can't believe you people woudl think that HUMANS have the power to kill God even if He would come here in human form. Sad, really sad.
And no one died for your sins; stop dreaming. You reap what you sow. You commit the sin and die without repenting, too bad for you; you do something good, you deserve rewards from God, so good for you.
Oh, and even if it DOES mean "Savior", I'll need to confirm that myself with a person who speaks fluent Hebrew. Stop believing everything you hear/read/see. Not good for the mind and the heart.
But anyway, I told you, silly. We believe in Jesus (ISA!!!) as a PROPHET of God who was sent to his people for guidance; if he is claimed to have been God in human flesh or the son of God, then we just reject that teaching. God has no son or father, and why the freak would He come down to save you? Why limit His power? He has millions and billions of ways to save you, so why should He have to send a SON down and let His SON die for YOU when YOU are the one who's gonna be the sinner? When you sin/do good, YOU deserve the punishment/reward unless God has mercy on you. Seriously, why not just think about it???
We believe in "Isa" (peace be upon him) who taught that God is ONE. ALL Prophets taught this; why would Jesus say, "But I'm God in human form!" or then "I'm the SON of God!" Too mysterious even if he did claim he was God/God's son.... I've told you; too heavy for the human mind, and God would never burden us with such a concept as the Trinity. Just know that God is ONE and doesn't share His being/body/spirit, etc. with anyone else, not even a son.
But.... who'm I to say that you're wrong to believe that God has a son? That's your strong belief so you keep your beliefs, and I'm keeping mine. Happy? I am. :D
Peace and True Gudiance be upon you, Buddy!
