I think it's all about personal taste. I worked at a steakhouse for 13yrs. I like mine med-rare=warm red center.
Rare=cool red center, Med=warm w/hot pink center, Med-Well=slight pink in the center w/brown edges, and Well=brown throughout. Well done and Rare are not the most tender meat. Although a lot depends on the cut of steak. A filet would be your most tender meat and if it's well done you can still enjoy it. If you get a sirloin, my recommendation would be medium. The sirloin is not the most tender steak, therefore you might want the juice.
There are strict laws regarding beef in the U.S. I feel confindent going in and ordering a steak that's a little bloody.

I like my steaks between medium and medium well. There's still some pink showing so the steak is tender, but there's no blood dripping off my chin. My husband eats his steaks medium rare and I about gag every time he eats one in front of me!

Personally, I like my steak medium rare, cooked but still pink. If you cook a steak until it's well done, you might as well take the leather off your shoe and eat it for all the taste it will have.

Thank you for asking! Are you offering to cook me a steak? I like mine in between...neither well done nor rare...medium or medium rare. Not dripping, but not dry, either. Pale pink and juicy. Know what I mean? Would you fix it that way for me?

I simply have to have the best steak such as Prime Rib rare with Au Jus, it would be a cooking faux pas to eat it any other way in a 5star restaurant.

Medium well is always safe, becuase you never know what each restaurant's definition of Medium is. Though I once went to Outback Steakhouse, ordered a steak medium-rare, and it came on a plate basically as raw meat. Yuck!

I like medium. It's all about texture for me. If it's Well or Rare, they are both too chewy for my taste. A nice medium steak chews the best in my opinion.

!,I prefer med rare to med.i find well done tougher and alot less juicy.just for kicks once try your steak one less temp than usuall.i.e.if you like well try med well.if you like med well try med.
I'm not being mean its just that my mother had this thing against meat so i grew up thinking steaks were dry, chewy and basically tasteless.Imagine my surprise when at 20 i tasted a steak expertly cooked to med and it was tender and juicy and beautiful.come on i dare. you if im wrong ,sorry.
