You can try a technique called reciprocol inhibition where you contract the muscles that perform the opposite action to the muscles that are spasming.

In this case those muscles are your hamstrings. Try climbing stairs but stop when you push off on the affected leg. Repeat many times.

Also, eat some bananas and include alot of calcium, magensium and potassium in your diet as deficiency of these nutrients can lead to spasms.

Muscle spasms can be caused by calcium or potassium deficiency, but there are lots of other possible causes. A couple of common ones are not getting enough fluids, or overworking the muscle. If it's a frequent problem, you should probably see your doctor to investigate the reason, as it can also be a sign of nerve problems. To stop a spasm, try pointing your toes away from your head as far as possible, then pull them in toward you. You can also try massaging the muscle. Using a long, stroking pattern of massage works especially well.

You could add massaging the area with ice.

If this continues, or if you get this frequently, see your doctor. There are other things that can help, and can help to prevent frequent spasms. As well, if this happens frequently, it could be a symptom of one of a number of serious illnesses.

It it's a one-time only thing, take care of it but don't worry it.

You should see a physician. He might want to check your electrolytes...calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium imbalances can cause muscle spasms.

In the interim...eat bananas. It sounds strange, but the potassium will help.

Hope it helps.

Calcium/magnesium tablets will relieve spasms & cramping as they relax muscles.

Be sure you get enough potassium from bananas, potatoes, green peas, or spinach. Drink Gatorade to keep your electrolytes in balance. Be sure to get enough calcium and magnesium. And you can drink Tonic Water if you can stand the taste. That's very good because it has quinine in it. And stay well hydrated.

Include lots of protein in your diet and make sure to have some protein after a gym session (which should include weights and core work) which restores your torn muscles. Protein shakes are good for this. @ https://tr.im/1WyiQ is really goood and efeective.
