Is there like a calculator online, or anything I can use? The rescue owner that I foster for said there is one, but where can I find it?

We just don't know how big daddy is. Is there a way to figure it out by calculating how much they weigh at a certain age?

We get a lot of pregnant dogs here at our shelter who were found as strays, and we can't tell what the daddy was.

we've been pretty successful at "ball-parking" the pups' final size by using the following formula.

Take the pup's weight at the age of 8 weeks. Multiply that by two to get the weight at 4 months. And then multiply that number by 2 to get the weight of the puppy at 8 months. Usually pups are pretty much done growing at 8 months.

Example: We had a litter of puppies that were all about 12 pounds at 8 weeks. We multiplied that by 2 to get a weight of 24 pounds at 4 months, and then multiplied 24 by 2 to get a final weight of 48 pounds. That generates just a rough estimate, but it's worked pretty well for us.

There are many ways to tell how big a dog will be. The way i usually tell is figure out what breeds the puppy is and do research to find out how big those breeds get. If the puppy is a mix usually they are a bit closer to the larger breed but they can also be in the middle..

Its not easy to be exact, but looking at the 2 parents gives you a pretty good indication of the actual size your puppy is likely to be.

Also the size of the paws are a good indication, the puppy has to grow into his paws. The larger the paws the larger the puppy is likely to become.

The breed of the dog will usually tell the size of it, but if you dont know the size of the parents look at the size of the dogs paws.

If you dont know how big the parents are it's difficult to say . I used to know somebody who got a puppy from the pound and eventually it grew to 155 pound in weight

a dogs size depends on the type of breed. What kind of dog is it? Find that out and than research it online or ask a vet.

look at the paws. Dogs that will become huge have huge paws as puppies.
