Side glances are always subtle as well as sweet smiles. If you don't want to be obvious just avoid laughing too long or too loud and don't touch.
Do look his way, tilt your head, and listen to what he has to say. Speak back when he speaks to you and start a conversation if he doesn't.
Light flirting does not have to be cheap or trashy. Just don't offer anything you don't intend to deliver and don't come on too strong.

you could be totally ruthless and do it in front of him and see his response or you could do it a less subtle way and just be yourself. by being yourself you can open up a gentle you and show him you could be a potential mate. By doing it ruthlessly he may just pass you off as a desperate person.or maybe his into the scene of total serial flirtation
