Atheists think they know everything because they are atheists.
Well, in fact, the ones who boast about their brain being the size of the Universe, are usually the dumb ones.

I'm not saying ALL Atheists are dumb, and ALL Christians are smart, it's just religion doesn't make the difference.

I'm pretty happy, personally. I'm more what you'd call agnostic, but in most Christian circles that would still make me a hell-bound, Godless heathen. Whatever.

I have a fantastic job, a Bachelor's degree, a wonderful wife of over 7 years, two silly but loving Greyhounds, my own house, a modified Jeep and a fast motorcycle.

I also donate my time and effort to raise money for cancer, diabetes and multiple sclerosis research by riding my custom Dean titanium road bike in charity events, and living in Colorado lets me get out and play on my mountain bike as well.

I have been developing new equipment with my company for two years, and the medical equipment I build helps save thousands of lives every year. It's very rewarding.

All this without God or any religion other than my own abilities and curiosity. I enjoy life quite well, and I am quite happy, thank you.

Why do Christians seem to think we are "secretly" anything? Unhappy, believers in denial, angry, in love with sin...and they haven't got a clue what we're about in the first place. I'm not particularly happy, but I'm far from miserable. What makes me genuinely unhappy is when religionists try to make their superstitions into law or force them into science. Or when they try to peddle ignorance as "enlightnement" or "faith".

I once had to deal with a goofball who was putting flyers up in a hospital featuring the question: "Who knows you better: Doctors or God?" His article was about abandoning modern medical care and just sitting back and praying, claiming that it would cure anything including AIDS and cancer. Another bright fellow on this forum insisted that all diseases were caused by demons and that medicines don't work at all (And there were people here ewho BELIEVED him!). When people spread this kind of idealized idiocy, then you'll see some unhappiness.

But in the rest of my life? I can live with it.

Edit: Cute caveat. "Does this person sound happy?" They probably are...except when dealing with pushy theists. Then tempers can get a bit short.

Well, Hi There! It's such fun to learn you know so much about me! It makes me even happier than I already was! Thanks lots for your great wisdom. You haven't a clue what Atheism is, & I suspect you don't want to, & all I care to say is that you live in fear every day of your life, instead of thriving, & your life is so awful you can find nothing better to do than be an idiot. You made my day even better, what a wonderful laugh! Thanks again, from an Atheist.

Edit: Your added details are amusing. "Read the majority of the answers & ask yourself "Does this person sound happy?" Over 75% were happy/content/okay (by whatever your standard of "being happy"). The minority were basically illogical & made laughable assumptions! Oh, please do go away! Except for the laughs you provided--well--where's the fly swatter???

Edit: Wait a minute. No, no further comments to a closed down mind. Enjoy your few minutes of infamy. Have a good, happy day! Oh, & PLEASE do NOT pray for me! Please please please

I am an atheist, and I am not unhappy. In fact, since I gave up religion, I am happier than I have ever been in my life. I suggest that you review the 10 Myths About Atheism. Here's the first one:

Myth #1: Atheists believe that life is meaningless.

On the contrary, religious people often worry that life is meaningless and imagine that it can only be redeemed by the promise of eternal happiness beyond the grave. Atheists tend to be quite sure that life is precious. Life is imbued with meaning by being really and fully lived. Our relationships with those we love are meaningful now; they need not last forever to be made so. Atheists tend to find this fear of meaninglessness … well … meaningless.

They aren't.... most are educated, secure, self-motivated, successful people, who do not pray for something or someone to resolve their future. and save them from the predicaments of their life. They are not Neo -Nazis, are a peaceful bunch, they are not crusaders, and they do not foist their religious or medical beliefs on others. They are scientists who do science, mathematicians who do math, and historians who do history..... Most are a "take charge" kind of people, practical, and extremely intelligent.... What ARE you thinking???? Never met an atheist who didn't have at least 3 years of college or wan't smart as hell..... most have thoughtful and lovely alternate definitions of god, other that the supernatural......
Alternatively, fundamental christians are usually uneducated, many of low IQ, usually barely finishing hs. They have poor self-esteem, blame everyone except themselves for their unhappy lives, and realize too late the life errors that they have made. They spend all of their money, and wonder why they are broke, they produce 4 children and wonder why they will never be home owners... yadayada.....

Helpful???.

I'm an atheist and am not unhappy.

There are things in life I don't like (like the fact that I lost my father, that there are wars all over the world, that global warming is threatening us, that global warming is human beings' fault, etc.); but I don't think theists don't have the same problems. At least those who have a heart and a conscience.

Just what is it, exactly, that makes you think we're so f-ing miserable and unhappy? That's akin to asking "Why are Christians so intolerant?" or "Why are Christians so willing to make sweeping generalizations about people they know nothing about?" Do you know anything about me personally? No. I know nothing about you either. Stop making random statements like this. It shows you know nothing.

I am an atheist and really happy. Not all of the time, but generally, yes. In fact, I was more misarable when I hung out with Christians in high school, then when I didn't. Make you feel guilty. **** that ****.
