Religion is not the cause of most wars.

War and killing for non religious reasons vastly exceeds wars over, or for, religious reasons.

The proof you seek is that it is the only writings that will bring you into communion with the One true God. There are other proofs but of course this is the best.

To answer the first question:
Most religions are actually related to each other in some way or other, so you will find many religious arguements (and eventually wars) are caused when several groups disagree about the fine details they have in common, and which side is correct.

To answer the second question:
There is much archeological evidence that information from the bible (and other religious texts) is BASED on truth. However that doesn't mean the information within should be treated as real! It's more like a movie with a tagline "inspired by a true story". The original information was taken and radically molded/altered to fit whatever idea/philosophy/lifestyle the religion was trying to promote.

Read your history books. Religion is rarely the cause of war.
I cant think of a modern war that was caused by it.
Its either someone invading another country and trying to claim it as there own, or someone who decides He wants to rule the world.
Religion is often a handy excuse but the worst wars in the 20th century were Christian against Christian.
I dont understand what the second part has to do with the first but I'm going to try and answer it.
All Religions have their Holy Books which are supposed to be the 'Word Of God' they dont need proof because they have faith in their beliefs. As an historical document there has been Archealogical proof that the Flood, the plagues of Egypt and other events happened. I am an Agnostic, I find the Bible interesting but I dont believe it is God's Work! No offense intended to those who do.

if u compare it with the quran and the jewish holy book - the torah, i think - then u will see that there r certain similarities between the 3.
and i don't think that 3 holy books followed by 3 religions would be all fiction. it's too much of a coincidence, don't u think?.
religions are the cause of most of the wars because everyone thinks their religion is the right one, and all the others dissagree so they fight to show who's religion is strongest. it's simple really.
i think that if only people respect all the other religions and preach their own away from everyone else then the ones who convert, convert and the ones who don't, don't.
that way the world will be a peaceful place.

if president 'george bush' stopped lying to everone, stopped trying to have a military base in every country, stopped trying to have every country in his power and told the truth once in a while, then maybe the world would also be peaceful around the area of politics.
and no one would have to go to sleep at night worrying that they won't wake up in the morning, or that they would wake up to find their family dead.

( i just feel that if bush was fair and left the world alone then everyone would be happy. i just feel that he is sticking his nose in everyone elses business and is being stubborn and won't leave the world alone. i also wish that he would stop lying to everyone and telling them that everything will be allright.
and i wish he would stop trying to take over all the countries under the false pretence that he is protecting them.
i wish he would stop all the hell he is causing and just listen to the people for once in stead of thinking that he is right all the time. i think he is the worst leader the world has ever seen). (including saddam hussain).
i don't know why i'm telling u this but i really am fed up with the world and i wish that it would hurry up and end because i'm sick and tired of people suffering for no reason.
i may only be 13 but my heart is as big as a hot air balloon and it's about to explode.
i just wish the adults would do something about it coz i'm not an adult till 5 years. so i can't really do anything.
coz i know that no one would listen to me because they will just think that i'm some kid with an oppinion that no one will listen to or care about, or that iv'e got some stupid childish idea that is just stupid or childish.
i beleive that i am actually mature, so i don't think that i should be ignored.

i'm just fed up!

Because certain religions think they are above us all and therefore they have to elliminate us [sorry for lack of spelling].

How can you say that it isn't?
World War 1 started because Hitler [R.I.P] didn't like people who were not blond hair blue eyes, and set out to kill all jews and johvers witnesses [again sorry for spelling] THIS IS RELIGION!

World War 2 started because of more or less the same reasons I believe THIS IS RELIGION!

Sorry if causes of either war is wrong but one of them is correct.

There is proof against "god" as well, its called Josephs gospel I believe [the one that was recently found] which prooves that parts of the bible are lies, how can you believe a book written 2007 years ago? Especcially as when we look at Shakespear the language means such different things, and thats only 400 years ago. Imagine 2007.

All hail the BNP!

The Bible is real to me. Whether it is to anyone else on this rock is up to them. My objective is not to force any of my beliefs or opinions on anyone. If I am asked the questions I shall answer them. And to answer the question, humans are capable of some really amazing wonderful things. As they are with horrible destructive things.

Understand my answer will seem very crazy to you and probably most people.

The enemy (a.k.a. - the devil and his cronies) has a way of perverting the truths and the common sense. With hatred and unjustified anger you can have a really horrible outcome. Throw a Bible in the midst of that and you can blame the whole thing on Christianity. Or whatever faith these monsters claim to be.

I find any blame game to be irrational and a waste of time. Like I just wasted the past 2 minutes answering this question. However, I have 2 points now and I feel some what relieved that it was not too much of a waste. (next)

You have to ask yourself the question, why have they not been able to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls which were discovered in 1947. Surely with all the leading language experts throughout the years and today's modern technology, you would have thought they could have translated them a dozen times over. Several translaters have supposedly committed suicide, why? whilst others have been sworn to secrecy why?. Could there be something in the scrolls that cannot be made public and probably never will. Keep us in the dark theory, isn't that the punch line of all politicians.

What proof do I have that you exist? A birth certificate? Could be a fake. Your contribution to Yahoo - could be someone else?
When you die, who'll care whether you existed or not?
Surely, your existence will be irrelevant to the endless discussion about God and the Bible whose existence has tried and tested every scholarly mind since the Bishop of Smyrna was put to death by political zealots who justified their existence by trying to force the Bishop to believe what they imagined to be true.
War is a religion. Look carefully around you. Observe all the memorials, tombs, totem poles, statues, cenotaphs, mausoleums, plaques, shrines and erectiles that honour those who have slaughtered and murdered the innocent in war being worshipped every year by a national ceremony of triumphant nationalism. This worthless religion of war will be trashed by Jesus when He comes in His glory soon to sift all those who have blasphemed the Holy Spirit (Life).

It is not. If you read the books which really go into the development of empires you will find that ALL wars begin for economic reasons. eg. The American Civil War was about the economic disparity between North and South, not slavery.
I don't like religion, though. It doesn't exactly stop wars, even though theoretically it should.

religion is not the cause of most wars but some wars, and the very fact that countries fight over this is disgusting, if there was no religion there would still be wars, just not so many and that has to be a good thing i think....
