It's really annoying. I developed RLS when I was pregnant, and the symptoms have persisted, even three and a half years later.
Edit to CAV: You're a moron.

Ohhhhhhhh yes.... It's real alright...
I've had it all my life, along with many other fellow sufferers...
It's not life threatening, but the discomfort it creates can become so intense that it affects your life in general... Many sufferers find the symptoms worse when they are tired, so bedtime is a bad time...
Some of us get it so bad that at night, when we are asleep, our legs go into autopilot and go completely nuts (this involuntary action is an associated disorder called PERIODIC LIMB MOVEMENT DISORDER - PLMD)... Which wakes us up... Many times a night... So we never get any quality sleep... And that's the main probelm caused by it.
Luckily, there are medicines and therapies... I've just been put onto a medicine to control it (called Requip) and it's working wonders so far... I've never slept so good!

I desire it were a made-up ailment. I actual have it. i in my opinion first heard of it interior the mid-1980's, so that is been round a at the same time as. immediately there is not a good diagnostic try for RLS; the diagnosis is made in accordance to subjective (affected individual-reported) indicators. for sure, again interior the 1950's, medical doctors automatically instructed women, "there is no such aspect as menstrual cramps. that is led to by technique of hysteria because you're bleeding." fortunately immediately physicians are significantly extra open-minded.

Very much so. My mom and one of my sister's has this. It tends to show up later in life and get progressively worse. It manifests as a tingling feeling which can become so severe as to be painful and an uncontrollable urge to move the legs. Symptoms become more severe in the evening for some strange reason.

Absolutely!
Before I was put on the prescription Trazedone, I couldn't fall asleep at night or even sit in a movie theater without my legs feeling pain and moving around.
That medication has really helped me!

yes, it is real. It is a circulatory problem dealing with the Sephalic Arteries and veins in the legs. sort of like coronary artery disease of the legs. They fill up with a "blood type Plaque" and block up in several spots causing the localized symptoms that all RLS suffer's complain of.

its another "disease" or "syndrome" etc taht drug compaies figured out they can control with a high priced drug. same thing w high cholesterol ( dont eat cheese, eggs and exercise in example). ask yourself why all of a sudden within the last few years we have thsi new scourge that needs to be treated? was this really that big of a problem before? are there millions afflicted? do we really need a new drug for it? sure we do cuz theres millions to be made if we tell you you have a diagnosable disease
