I had to put one of my cats down in 1993 and I still miss her very much everyday. I mean that cat was my soul mate like no human ever could be. We did everything together.

She was so smart. I was charging a battery once and it was over-charging and making a bubbling sound and she came and got me and took me to the battery. She may not have understood what was going on, but she knew something wasn't right. Saved the house from burning down because much more of the overcharging would have caused the battery to explode.

We went hunting and fishing together, too. Spend time just lazing around on hot afternoons watching TV or birds at the bird feeder.

It's incredibly tough to kill something we love, but we can't let our pets suffer simply because we will hurt from the loss.

unfortunately Kidney failure is extremely common and i would say one of the most common reasons for euthanasia or death in cats (especially elderly), Excessive drinking, vomiting, off food can all be signs of kidney trouble, get them to the vet for supportive treatment as soon as possible. A simple blood test can confirm it. Also a good idea to have a full blood test yearly after your cat turns 8 years old and it can pick up early detection to serious illnesses. I say this not to be insensitive but to make other people aware of this tragic illness. Sometimes it is just a cats time to go and no matter how much pre care you can do they just don't live long enough do they? Animals hold a special place in your heart all the time but there is something really special about the bond you have when you hand rear it, isn't there!
Good luck for the future and i am sorry for your loss.

i'm very sorry to hear about your cat. when they (any animal) are in pain i can't get better, the best thing to do is put them down. i know from experience how hard that is. but it's harder to watch them suffer, knowing no one can help them, only permanent sleep.
