When in doubt call your local police department and ask them.

I've researched this before and found that no State sets a specific age when a child can be legally left home alone. They all say it's up to the parent to determine when the child is mature enough to handle any emergency situations and be trusted to be home alone. You can make that decision for your own child, but can't make it for someone else's child.

Here in OH. it is done by county. Well the classes and certifications that are offered are done that way. I don't know that there is and age limit I think it may be the parents discretion. But maybe check your counties web site.

That depends on how mature the child is but I wouldn't stay totally alone,at least have someone within phones reach. You should not feel so grown up till your at least 16 or older. I mean what if you have questions or accidentally burn your grandmothers antique curtains? No no please try to be an adult when you are 16 at least.

Contact your local YMCA/YWCA for babysitter courses. I'm not entirely sure if they still do that but I know when I was about 12 I took a babysitter course through them.

As far as I'm concern here in California is 18. I wouldn't leave my children alone at no age til they were "18".
