When I try to do the can he see the toy test sometimes I think he can see it, but I am not sure. When I shined a light in his eyes they immediately closed.

take him to a vet. Blind dogs will still make great pets. Just keep them in a stable fenced area or preferably inside.

Have someone hold him and then take a treat or toy and move it back and forth in front of the puppy (but the toy will work better). If the puppy can see, it will track it with its eyes. Also, many puppies cannot see very well at 6 weeks and it should improve by 8 weeks.

One way to test his eyesight is to put him in a dark room. As he starts to walk around, see if he moves confidently or collides with furniture. Turn on the lights and test him again. A blind dog will act the same way with the lights on or off.

If he has problems, he needs to see a vet though to have his eyes professionally tested to see what degree of impairment he does have.

pup's eyes may not have changed color yet - all pups have blue-eyes as neonates. But U have a much-bigger problem:

Ooops!

if U have a SIX week old pup at Ur home, U've gotten the pup away from Mom and sibs too young... and this can cause very serious lifelong behavior problems, including separation-anxiety, fear-biting, neophobia, Obsessive-Compulsive behaviors, stool-eating, and an UN-INHIBITED Bite.

pups learn how to 'inhibit' their bite by active-play with their sibs: but pups aren't up on their legs till their 5th week.

as a result, Ur pup hasd only had 5 or 6 days of play with their sibs - not enuf to learn this crucial skill.

pups also need to hang-out with mom to learn good social-skills as dogs: how to solicit play, apologize, challenge, say 'i quit', and so on.

dogs with poor dog-social skills often become aggressive on-leash as they grow up; they are AFRAID of other dogs, having had too little practice to know how to behave and be comfy.

AND: U also have SIX WEEKS before Ur pup has sphincter-muscles on bladder and bowel, and can =begin= housetraining.

do U have someone who can be there every 3 hours, ALL DAY LONG, for the next month and a half? very few folks do...

call the breeder, and ask if Pup can stay with Mom and sibs for at least another 14 days (that's 56 days age: a Much Better time to take pup home).

Ur breeder may be in violation of state law or local ordinance in Ur area;
if the breeder is from another STATE, they are in Federal violation:
** 56 days ** is the Fed-min for crossing any state-line without the WHOLE FAMILY going: mom and all the kids.

good luck with Ur baby - but i'd give him a bit more time at home to grow up, play with their sibs, and learn from Mom how to be a good dog! best.... :-)

One way you could find out without spending money is to shine a light in his eyes. He responds to it he isnt blind. If he doesnt respond he is proably blind. If you still can't tell take him to the vet to have them cheack on it.

Can you give more details please? What types of things is he doing, that has you wondering if he is blind? The only way you will know for sure, is to take him to the vet, and have his eyes checked. He's the only one that can give you a definite answer. I hope he isn't, poor baby!
