I want her so bad. we work together and I want to get to know her better and ask her for a date. she gave me a big compliment (that i look marvelous) before and I gave her one back, saying that I think that she's a gorgeous looking woman. she said that i made her day. now, I don't know what to do next. you have to be very careful with what you say to women these days and I don't want to get fired. do you guys have any ideas for me how to approach her softly? I thought about writing her a note (we are always busy at work, so there's no much time to chat), or asking if I could buy her a gift and get her some nice chocolates. so what do you think? Thank you so much!

Writing a note is so tempting, because it lets you physically distance yourself from everything... but I don't think it would be a good idea in this case because you do have to navigate the issue of work in this. So, what to do?

When time permits (and doesn't interfere with work), follow up with some small talk. Changes are at some point things will turn to movies or weekend plans or even what you like to have for lunch. All of these are great openings to just casually ask the follow up: you wanted to see that movie too? I was thinking of going this Friday night, want to join me? or, Pizza sounds good to you too? Want to go over to ____ for lunch?

This gives you a chance to either spend more time together and gauge her interest, or to give her a chance to say she's not interested without it having to feel like a big rejection for you. Good luck.
