Se here it is, I am building my second computer and i have to buy the origonal XP... when i put the first one together i used a friends OEM and used my upgrade box. I have a Desktop that i built and a Laptop that is a Dell. Im not sure which OS i want to put on this new one i am going to build. what i want are answers that are Opinionated. and in the ansewers i want the OS name (XP home, XP pro, XP media, etc...) what the good things about them are and what the bad things about them are. the one who gives the best reasoning behind there answers win. what i dont want are web pages saying what each comes with or other peoples opinions. ty any questions feel free to ask and ill answer it in the more info section

I can understand your reasoning behind not wanting to following link after link. But you also have to understand the time and comitment people make in answering you question(s). Realistically it is senseless for anyone to type the same information here that is already located on the Internet on Microsoft's website. Individuals such as myself use Microsoft's website in addition to numerous other resources when we need information. There is no reason why you could not do the same. For one you learn a lot more than what anyone could provide in a Yahoo answer.

The best way to summarize the Operating Systems available are:

Windows Home: Very basic, provides the general home user enough to function and get onto the Internet

Windows XP Pro: More advance and allows for integration into a business model. Also includes better security

Windows XP Media Center: Windows XP Home with advanced features for audio and video

Windows Vista: Well the various versions build upon XP Home and Professional but incorporate some features of Windows Media.

Windows XP Pro is what I have been using on the 700 computers and laptops I support at the university I work for. This is the standardized OS for the PC platform for us.
