These patches have a lot of bumps that aren't quite big enough to be hives (nor do they itch all the time) but the rashes naturally get redder and the bumps swell a little when I scratch. I've had the little bumps since spring, but the itching has recently started. Any ideas?

It sounds like psoriasis to me. I have psoriasis myself...have for years. Getting outbreaks on your knees and shins are one of the first places to get them. Also in your scalp. Theres no cure for psoriasis but there are creams and ointments to help.
Go to your Dr. for help.
Good kuck. In the mean time, keep lotion on it.

exzema. My son has it. I put something called aquaphor on it. You can get it at any local drug store.
