i dont know about the eating but i do know that great danes are the couch potatoes of the dog world. even when nothing is wrong they will just lay around. thats why you need to take them out and let them run either with you or at a park for at least an hour a day. cause danes tend to be very laid back, and because they are laid back and easy going, they like to just sit around and people/dog/cat/ or whatever watch

You need to take him to the vet. It's as simple as that. You don't give much information to go on, so it could be anything. If he's been doing this for 24 hours or more you need to take him right away. Even if it means a trip to the emergency vet clinic. Puppies are very vulnerable and can go downhill very fast. I had a neighbor once who's labrador puppy was fine one day and dying from parvo virus the next. Don't wait... it's better to be safe than sorry.

Being inside the house (for a dog) is the equivalant of being inside a kennel. Dogs need to go for a long walk every day .Also dogs like to hunt for their food. After he's had his long walk then offer him food. I take my dogs on a 2 mile walk every other day. They are little dogs and they look forward to walking, But first take hime to the Vet for a check up!.

Something is wrong. At five months he should be well into annoying the crap out of you. I hope he's just under the weather, but get him to a vet.

a vet once told me that the bigger breeds grow faster, so they have spells that they have growing pains, low energy levels, etc.
if you are really concerned take the pup to the vet, but it could just be a growth spurt according to what i was told by a vet.

Bring your dog to a vet and see what they can do for your dog. If your dog still refuses to eat, try cooking for him. ask your vet what kinds of food you can give to your dog, and try making it for him.
