My husband and I just went to the Virgin Islands and it was fabulous. You can research ideas about which island suits you through lots of online websites such as VINow.com or TripAdvisor.com... The Virgin Islands have a laid back vibe that on St. John, USVI, for instance, you can choose everything from gorgeous 20,000 a week villas to pretty rustic condo stays but the beaches are incredible and part of the national park service so there are no hotels, etc on the beaches to ruin your view. Seriously, beautiful, laid back and relaxing like no other place I've been but not for someone looking for extravagant luxury. I've also heard about "barefoot cruises" where you are on a sailboat just the two of you with your chef and captain and you cruise through the islands stopping where the spirit moves you throughout the virgin islands.
An idea for that kind of trip is Fiji so If you are wanting lots of luxury then choose something like the huts that are right over the water and come with your own house person who cooks for you, etc where some of the hollywood crowd have gone for honeymoons.
Last idea would be Italy... rent a vila in Tuscany and drive into Florence for the day in one of those little sports cars! A tour of Italy would also be fun... Florence, Rome, etc for a few nights in each, seeing all the sights. Very romantic!

Paris is a great break - depending where you live Jet2.com do great cheap flights - I booked one for £9 there and £1 back - obviusly not including airport taxes, but booked last night for next 0ctober £55 return, including all airport taxes etc
There is so much to do, dependent on what you both like, there is Le Louvre for culture;EiffelTower and evening boat trips for the romantic; beautiful gardens for nature lovers; Arc de Triomphe, Bastille, for historical folk; Sacre Coeur and Notre Damme for the religious; Champs Elysee for the rich shoppers and the little street markets for the rest of us. Lots and lots of street cafes and coffee houses for the people watchers. At night of course there is the Pigalle or red light district, absolutely super atmosphere and not as seedy as Amsterdam
If you really want to push the boat out take him on a romantic dinner cruise on the Seine followed by a trip to th Moulin Rouge - very expensive but worth every penny
Whatever you do hope he enjoys it - and appreciates the thought you have put into making his bithday special. Enjoy

Prague is one of the cities worth-visit and to accomplish this you can start preparing your vacation with hotelbye . Starting with the charming area round the Prague Castle or the Strahov monastery with its amazing library and finish with …the entire great town, Prague is merely incredible. In Prague you may also visit the little house where Franz Kafka worked or the lovely Prague Castle gardens from where you can enjoy a special see of the town with its picturesque red roofs. In this town you will never get bored. In the event that you should go during the spring you will discover the spring woods in blossom; in the summer you will see long dusks; autumn will provide you with vibrant leaves and special mild and in winter months you will relish the whole town covered with innocent white snow.

well 33 isn't a major mile stone birthday so i wouldn't go overboard. how about paintballing or something fun for him and some friends.or a new plasma tv. better than a holiday and it will last longer...bit expensive but he must be worth it. i bought my husband a pole for me to dance round. He said it was the best present a man could get. it wasn't expensive either! good luck.

There's places where you can go and they have warm Jacuzzis out in the free air, I heard there was a place near San Diego and one near L.A but I guess you can look into it. They sound romantic. You can also try a round trip to La's Vegas, they have bus tours.
