Me actually spanking my kids because they act up? For any of you who want to say I am a bad parent for doing this, then may I have you save your comments and in return I think you are bad parents for not doing it. I hope your stupid time outs work when your kids grow up and get into trouble with the law!!!

I think that's the whole problem, most kids these days don't fear their parents or have respect for them. You have to start young, teaching them by correcting them in a loving manner. Spanking is fine, then you tell them why you spanked them and that you love them.
You correct down right disobedience, not because they spilt kool-aid on the carpet.

I can gladly say spanking a child is the best discipline there is! I'm 51 and my parents always told us as long as we lived at home if we needed a spanking we'd get it no matter what age. I'm thankful I was raised that way. I would not dare talk back to my daddy even now and my mother passed away 2 yrs. ago. That's why there are so many teenagers in trouble with everything is because the parents worked and let the kids raise themselves and don't spank them because of the DHS.

No!! My Mom spanked me when I was a kid, & I didn't turn out to be a bad person. I did learn not to do it again though !! Most states allow you to spank your child with an open hand on the butt,so long as you leave no bruises. Most people think this is illeagal- it's not ! Just check with your local child welfare office.

spanking for some parents is fine, especially as a last resort, if its done the right way. Parents shouldn't be the child's best friend, they should be authoritive figures, the child will have friends at school, and siblings that would be friends.Parents are in the teaching role.

It depends on how old the child is when you say spank ! I believe children need discipline and if that's what work for you , you are the parent. Spare the rod spoil the child!!!

time outs dont work i know i spank my kids if i didnt they would walk all over me.theres nothing wrong with it theres a difference between a spanking and abuse.

spankings works in my house. I've tried the timeouts and all that seemed to do was let them rest up to continue where they left off.

nope nothing wrong with it
however sometimes that discipline doesnt work as well for older kids.
when my kids were younger, i spanked regularly...now that they are older, i take away privileges
remember, discipline is discipline
just make sure they have negative consequences for negative actions

Nothing wrong with 'spankings' --- it is when the line is crossed and the beatings start --- that is the problem.

i am very glad somebody out there is still doing this.thats whats wrong with the kids today they are not made to mind like we where when we where growing up. good for you
