Picasa 2 is a free program from Google where you can change the color of pictures on your own computer. If you're just looking to do basic cropping, changing color, etc. this is a very good program

Photoshop Elements is a great program but it costs about $100. Your other choices are...
- www.download.com and do a search
- Picasa.com but I have never used it
- Go to www.davespics.com and find my email address. Send me the picture and I'll do it for you.

regardless of the program the procedure is called desaturation... it removes all the color and creates a greyscale image.
