It will take a few days for the pressure to subside. Hang in there. If your soft tissue inside your mouth is irritated from the brackets, use the wax the orthodontist gave you (most likely) - that will help with tissue soreness. You will have this everytime you have an adjustment...but it gets easier.

Motrin or Advil (which are both pain relievers and anti inflammatory) should help the most. Mouth pain can be very intense, but it should subside in a few days.
I'm not sure that salt will help with braces - salt works for a sore throat or canker sore.
I have never tried this, but maybe snuggling up wth a heating pad on your jaws might help to lessen the pain.
My mother told me I had a lot of pain with my braces many years ago, but fortunately, I can't really recall how I felt (luckily).
Time and painkillers will make it better soon.

Drink very cold water or suck on ice cubes to numb your teeth. Use dental analglesic if your dentist gave you some. Try to focus on something else. Also, eating can be less painful if you cut your food up very small or stick to soft food for a few days. I had to get mjor braces when I was younger, so I know what it's like for you.

The main reason your teeth hurt is because your teeth are under alot of pressure and are forced to move at an astonishing rate. they will adjust in their new locations very soon (usually hurts for about a week). Once they settle, the pain will ease. In the mean time just take a pain killer when you need it and I find sucking on an ice cubehelp to kind of freeze the pain just whatever you do DO NOT BITE THE ICE!!!!!

I got braces not to long ago and i wanted to rip my teeth out it hurt so bad! lol but I took painkillers and just tried to not let my top and bottom teeth touch..and eat soft food! My pain went away on like the 5th or 6th day. Stick it out, it gets better. =]

Take a Motrin or some kind of pain killer it will help a lot. If they are rubbing your cheek put wax on them. You will eventually get used to them.
