i have a question about my friend and his crush...?

ok, so my friend Brian has a huge crush on a girl named Susan. Susan would always tell Brian that hes cute and all, but the problem is that when Brian told Susan that he likes her, Susan started to insult him. What i thought was that Susan was just insulting him and making fun of him because she likes him. Well Brian tells me that hes DIEING to have advice about this. He says he doesnt like to be insulted by her and that hes tired of it. What do you think? Could you help my friend out by giving me advice to give to him about Susan?
