Hi guys!
I am so sad. Today we neutered our cat. We had to drop him in vet's place and we picked him up like 4 hours later, to make sure anasthesia wears off and he is doing ok.
When we came there and woman brought him to us-he was shaking, meowing loud, freaking out.
We brought him home-he could hardly walks, his back legs were so weak and clumsy.
He got better now a little bit, but he still acts a little bit weird, scared of everyhing and even hissed at me couple of times for no reason even though he recognizes me and is not scared of me.
I feel so sad for him , its been a huge stress today for poor guy.
I just wanted to know is it normal behavior after neutering and it it will go away.
I hope he will not be scared of everything now and will trust us again:(

Honey the poor thing just had surgery. Hes gonna be a little cranky and painful. He will have a better attitude when he heals, I promise. I just had my kitten spayed, and she is back to normal, running around like an idiot!

He's been through a lot, like you said. He just needs some time to calm down and for the rest of the anesthesia to get out of his system. It is normal for this kind of thing to happen. He may not want to eat yet, or do anything really. If you give him some space (but make sure you keep an eye on him so he doen't lick the wound or bit the stiches) he should come around by tomorrow.

I know it seems traumatic right now but you did him a big favour by getting him neutered, it saves him from running about trying to find a girlfriend! It also keeps the spraying in the house from happening :)

convinced male cats will stray in search for for a lady. this can lead on on to the cat being hit by using vehicles, picked up by using yet another relatives, stuck by using a pound, and attacked by using different animals. Cat fights maximum (oftentimes between 2 men scuffling with over a woman) can deliver about many existence threatening diseases transmitted between cat bite wounds and scratches. that's noticeably intelligent that you'll be able to get your cat neutered and that i'm more than chuffed that you receive him an appointment already! Cats that stay outdoors and indoor/outside cats existence expectancy is decreased to larger then a million/2 compared to that of a completely indoor cat. Many cats that are allowed to bypass outdoors not often existence previous 3 yrs of existence, even as abode cats can existence as a lot as approx 16 (I truly have met indoor cats that were 25 yrs old!!!!!!!) you're doing him the right element by using getting him neutered, to help cut back the inhabitants and keep your kitty secure interior. You look o be a to blame puppy proprietor!! thanks :)

I don't know. I had my cat fixed and he didn't act like that. He acted normal after that surgery. He recently had a different surgery. The first day that I brought himhome he acted weird. He meowed loudly, staggered and etc. He was in pain, a little disoriented, and etc. He's getting better each day. Each cat acts differently. Your cat is probably in pain and a little disoriented, which is normal. Even though you waited four hours before picking him up he's probably still a little disoriented. Give him a day or two. Yes he'll trust you. Again he's probably just in pain and a little disoriented. Imagaine being a little kid and having to have major surgery. It would be scary and painful for you too.

Your cat should be better tomorrow. He's just had surgery and like humans, they all recover differently. My barn cats refused to have anything to do with the other barn cats who just came back from being neutered & spayed and I think it was the fact that they smelled a bit different from being around other animals at the vet's office. They hissed & scratched at each other for several days, but are now back to getting along well. Give your cat another day & he should be back to normal, both in movement & getting along with you. This is normal behavior after surgery.

He may be upset with you for now, but it will pass. I've got a lot of cats (8 total) and I have had one male cat neutered. When I went to get him, he was fine and ready to come home. When I've had females fixed, they usually felt better anywhere from 24-72 hours after the procedure. Just keep an eye on him and don't crowd him. He's sore and probably a little fuzzy minded due to the medication, but he will be fine.

Anesthesia effects each animal differently. Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours for the anesthesia to fully wear off. If concerned keep your cat in a small room where it is quiet and warm with his litter box, food and water for a day or so. All those things that your cat is/was doing is normal

It takes a full 24-48 hours foe the effects of the anethesia to wear off. Your cat is just confused and a little off. He will go back to his normal self in a couple of days.

Your cat will recover just fine and will not "hold it against you".

I have been through it many times - nothing to worry about.

Don't worry too much...it sounds like the anesthesia hadn't completely worn off yet. That's how cats act when they've been given anesthesia. It takes about 24 hours for it to completely wear off.
I recommend keeping him in a quiet, out-of-the-way place until tomorrow. Don't let him climb on any furniture or use stairs, in case he loses his balance. Give him food and water in small amounts. It's ok if he doesn't want to eat, that's normal.

Don't worry he's just coming out of the anesthetic and he will be a little out of it for a bit. Every cat reacts to the anesthetic differently give him a couple of days to get over it he'll be okay and you did the responsible thing by getting him neutered.
