Fate is a dead end story this poet has no time for.

FREE WILL!!!

Both.

It was fate that you were born free.

Argument: you can jump at any time, but as soon as you do, forces pull you down. So the will itself is free, but as soon as an action is willed, it becomes entangled by forces. The will itself though is free, because whenever you can be unwilling to do something, it is proof that you can do something but choose not to. So that is free will. Fate comes into play when you talk about a situation being drawn to a particular point, such as this moment. It was fate that I would be asking this question. Ever since I was born, a man who knows the future would be able to say it will be fate that I will answer this question here and now, but it was also my choice to do so.

Once again, it is both fate and free will.

I have had this argument before - we came to the conclution that there is a system that must be followed. Many people go with the free choice but do we really have a choice? We have the choice to lay down and sleep all day but that will not do anything for your lived ones. Your only choice is to get out and be productive if you want to feed your family. Would if the sun had a choice to come out everyday? My point is that we may have a "choice" but in the end there is a system that must be followed to get what you want out of life. Thats just an opinion tho... I believe in creating your own destiny rather that fate.

Was "Deep blue" ruled by fate or free will when it beat Casparov?
Man is only a (very much) more complex machine...

Free will. Fate doesn't actually exist. And how could one prove it? Interesting. anybody got a proof for fate?

Women, however, are ruled by fate.

Such is the fate God allots the wicked,

Man is inherently endowed with free will. To be ruled by fate, would be synonomous with predestination. We always have a choice, be it good or bad. Along with those choices are the subsequent rewards or consequences.
