Had that person been born again, reborn spiritually. That is what happens when one confesses Jesus Christ Lord and has heart faith in the atonement for sin & resurrection.
This happened with my cousin who committed suicide. I was sooo concerned that I spent prayer time asking the Lord if my cousin was in Heaven with Him. The Lord let my heart rejoice that my cousin was in heaven with my Lord. Also brought to mind bible camp when my cousin went there. The Lord knows if one is His child. And it is Gods will that none will perish. So is the case with my cousin. He went to heaven, but none of the lies, unforgiveness, etc. he believed that led to suicide went to heaven with him. But he was born of God, redeemed by the blood so Jesus Blood covered his sin. But he didn't get the rewards God had wanted to give him. So that is sad, but I rejoice he is in heaven with the Lord.
I learned from this experience but suicide or thoughts of grieve the Holy Spirit and is doubt an is sin. But that doesn't change the fact that when we are born of God that we are children of the King. We are made the righteousness of Christ based on what Jesus did for us. Jesus will reward us for works done rooted in Faith, Hope & Love. Obedience to His Word. All perishable when tested by the fire gets fried, but person is still saved.
Though everyone is different. Only God knows if your friend was born of God, redeemed by the blood. Pray in spirit & truth to Father God. Rejoice in the truth. Love rejoices in the truth. If you can't rejoice in the truth that your friend is in heaven with the Lord with the joy rooted in heart faith, then your friend isn't in heaven with the Lord. If you can, then you have assurance from heaven that your friend is in heaven.

I guess it all depends on what religion you're asking about. Catholics things that they go to hell. Some religions believe in purgatory. It also depends on what happened. I personally believe if someone was sick...they were mentally messed up...and they were crying for god to save them, and they killed themselves, maybe they'd go to Heaven. And I guess it all depends on how they led their lives too. Hitler committed suicide...I believe he went to hell. My friend Ian and my friend Nichole committed suicide. They were both pretty sick. Very depressed.
Suicide is definitely not the answer. I believe it's the most selfish thing you can do.
When you say "the enemy got to him" do you mean the devil made him do it???? If by some strange chance the devil actually MADE him do it...God will know the difference. But some how I highly doubt the devil actually made him do it.

Sorry to hear of your friend.
I personally believe that your friend probably did go to heaven, but maybe not directly. But then, as a panthiest, I believe that everyone goes to heaven, sooner or later. (some people much later than others.)
I was raised Catholic, and traditional Catholic teaching is that suicides die in a state of unrepented sin and so go to hell. This doctrine is one of many such doctrines of various religions, which discourage suicide on moral grounds, otherwise many more people would probably take this way out when times get tough. However, recent Catholic teaching is that people who commit suicide are often severely mentally ill at the time, and not in a position to give full consent of the will to their actions.
What happens around the time of death is a mystery. Perhaps in his final moments here on this earth or his first moments on the other side, Jesus met him and healed him. After all, Jesus did promise that no one could snatch us away from him.
Suicide is not usually a good thing to do, it is as they say a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I've been close to suicide, as many of us have, and moral considerations among others pulled me back from the brink. So moral laws against suicide do have their place as prevention. But after the fact, to add to the grief of the friends and family, these laws have no place.
I believe that after death we go on a journey, and it is appropriate and helpful to pray for the dead. I'll pray for him and encourage you to do so, and I hope others who read of this will take a moment to pray for him as well, rather than condemn someone they never even met. Only God can judge things like this.

Thats not really something that someone can judge. Only God judges.
"..he that judgest me is the Lord.
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness; and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God." -1 Corinthians 4:4&5
Anyone who would judge someones soul is way away from the scriptures.
I wish i could be more comfort to you, but be reassured that God will judge righteous judgement, and that one of the promises we are repeatedly made (Isaiah 25:8, Revelations 7:17. Revelations 21:4) Is that "(God) will wipe away tears".
I like the wiping aways tears part better.

When he committed suicide he turned his back on God. Lets hope that his soul recognizes Jesus Christ and choses the correct path to Heaven.

Yes, acceptance of Jesus Christ into your heart is the only prerequisite for going to Heaven. Your works is what gets the crowns which we will then have to lay at Jesus' feet.

Jesus had to die for our sins. He grow to be the only excellent sacrifice for all sins. previous, modern-day, and destiny. If he did not die we would all be going to hell. someone who's kept, and commits suicide will bypass to heaven. in trouble-free words those who're no longer kept, and are of the age of responsibility will bypass to hell. examine your Bible. Judas would have requested Jesus for forgiveness and went to heaven, yet he chosen no longer to.

Most Christians officially believe that suicides go to Hell.
However, Catholics believe that people not in control of their faculties cannot commit mortal sins. Because suicidal people are rarely in control of their faculties at the time they kill themselves, they probably would not go to Hell.
I am Christian, and I don't believe anyone goes to Hell. Suicides are the ones most in need of God's love, after all.

No-one alive would know. It did say in the Bible that no matter what, God would always make it possible for you to live. Even though there are some people who "just can't take it anymore".
