You should stick with medication and councelling. It may not help straight away but in the long run you will feel a whole lot better.
I suffer from depression aswell and here are some tips that help me, and hopefully they will help you aswell.
*Write what you feel on a piece of paper and then throw it away. That way you are writing your negative things down and throwing it away helps you to feel better. Like an emotional release.
*Talk to ANYONE when you feel depressed/suicidal, talking to someone is ment to take some weight off you're shoulders.
*Don't try and hide your emotions behind a smile, if you need to cry, then cry, if you feel angry then scream(but not at anyone), if you feel suicidal then get help right that second.
*Say positive things to yourself, even if you do not feel like it, bc that will make you feel good eventually.
Hope these help and best of luck : )

Stay with the counseling and medication. The meds can take a few weeks to become steadily effective. Also, if this is your first time on meds, your doc might have you on a low entry dose to see how you respond - let your doc know if nothing is getting better for you.
Good for you for knowing that something wasn't right and then getting the diagnosis! That takes real courage, because it's not a condition people like to own up to. You're doing the right thing for yourself and the people who love you (and yes, you have people who love you, that's how you learned to land yourself in a career).
Good luck!

I occasionally gets boughts of deppression associated with my ADD.
There is no real "good" answer, but here are some thing I do to try to get through those times.
First I recognize that I am having a cycle of depression. By knowing it is "depression", I find it helps me say to myself "its ok, its not really you, its the stuff in your head thats making you feel that way". It helps to fight off the desolation just knowing that I really don't feel that way, its chemical.
Once I feel that I am more incontrol by my acceptance of my mood, I try to determin how I really feel. If I feel lonely, I'l call a few friends or go out myself, even if I really don't feel like it. Sometimes it makes me feel better to surround myself with people and my disposition will improve.
Sometimes I don't feel like dealing with people at all and I'l curl up to a rented movie and a couple of beers. Sometimes I'l purposesly get a sad movie to invoke expressing my sadness. Sometimes actually "getting it out" helps and relieves some of the stress.
Everyone is different in their expression of depression, so get to know your depression, make friends with it. When it onsets, you'll be ok cause you'll feel it and understand the subtle feelings.
The fact that you are concerned about yourself is good. You know that there is something going on and you want to fix it. Keep it up - it is positive when you become pro-active.
If you find you are unable to controll/adjust to your depression, and it starts to truely affect your live, you may want to consider medication to help regulate it. There is no shame is taking medication to improve and take control of your life.
I wish you luck, but I know you'll be just fine :-)

keep in mind that your wide wide awake ideas will imagine negatively and this may right now impression the way you experience. in case your emotions are concerning a particular journey, go and be conscious a therapist or ask your health practitioner for help. seem for Steve Norton's 'ideas of existence' e book which tells you procedures to end questioning negatively. you are able to replace it, you're literally not extraordinary and also you do not ought to post with it any more. that is nicely worth smiling about.;-) good success!

Feelings is the one thing that alcoholics/addicts have a difficult time doing. I am a recoverying alcoholic of 8 yrs., and I know how hard it is to "do feelings."
I was later diagnosed with bipolar, and the medication does help, but I have to work with the medication, or it doesn/t work for me.
In the 12-Step program, the first step is "admitting we are powerless over............." in your case "feelings." I used to go to EA, which is the same as AA only it is feelings we are powerless over!
However, the next step, is admitting "only our Higher Power can return us to sanity." That HP can be any thing that helps you feel better. For me it was my God, and I knew His will for me was to be happy, and to be loved, as he is a God of love. I knew it wasn't his will for me to feel the way I felt. In AA, I knew he didn't want me to get drunk! as it wasn't benefiting me in any way.
But the THIRD STEP "is doing his will instead of my own." Then I had to ask myself, how? This step was easy in AA, is all I had to do was to quit drinking. But in EA, it was tough! How do I stop feeling these negative thoughts? The HOW was in the next step, "taking a complete and thorough moral inventory of myself." The hardest step of the whole program, and the one of the most important if you are going to be successful in changing a destructive behavior or feeling.
The Serenity Prayer helps as well, "admitting I can't change others, the only person I can change is MYSELF, and having the wisdom to the know the difference." If you are or aren't married this is difficult, because we have expectations of people that we THINK they should FULFILL! If they don't, then we become depressed, and feel like they don't love us. However, this is called distorted thinking.(or stinkin thinkin) This too shall pass! Keep it simple! and One day at a time! And I don't have to solve all my problems today! I can do what I have to do for today, but I won't have to forever!
Find a support group! Go to Alan-non, even if there is no one with alcoholism that affects you, but I bet there is someone, a friend, a relative, a parent, any way, Alan-non worked wonders in my life, along with AA and EA. Look for EA!

Sometimes you just have to go through the motions of these feelings and know that they will pass, one day at a time. you said you have had professional help and it isn't working, maybe you should give God a chance. seek spiritual help. I will pray for u if you would like and hope it doesn't offend you.
