Hebrews 9:27 assures us that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment."
Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

Without any sarcasm, I will tell you I don't know what happens when we die. And in some ways, I don't care.
Is there a Heaven? I hope so. Is there a Hell? I hope not. And I know to Conservative Christians and Fundamentalists, that sounds like the foolish man in some Jack Chick comic.
But I can't embrace fundamentalism. When I was younger, I tried. But it never seemed real, it never seemed right. I cannot understand a God who condemns others into Eternal Damnation. I can't imagine spending Eternity in Heaven, trying to forget the screams that Baptist ministers claimed would be echoing through Hell.
I believe in God, I believe in many of the teachings of Jesus. I believe in forgiveness. I struggle to forgive others, no matter what they've done to me, and I try to need as little forgiveness as possible from others and from God.
But I can't believe in an Inerrant Bible, and I can't believe in the conclusions about Jesus that some Christians have come to.
When my last breath comes, I will be in the hands of God, as I suppose I always have been. Maybe I'll be proud of my life, maybe I'll be ashamed. But I hope I will not approach that moment with expectation or arrogance. I hope to be humble, and loving, and able to be loved. I hope to be acceptable to God.

I am agnostic. I don't know, I'm not dead and don't plan to be anytime soon. Just to bring you back down to Earth, there has NEVER been any living thing that has come back from the dead to tell us what it's like. Preach about Jesus all you like, there is still no PROOF that another person ever came back to life.
So that means I don't know, you don't know, and nobody alive knows for sure what happens. What IS inevitable is that we will all die at some time, and this concept is so frightening that I believe it is the basis for most religions. The fear of death makes people concoct all kinds of funny things in a futile attempt to give life meaning, when in reality life is meaningful without pondering things that you will never know anyway.

I think that when we die, we go into a spirit paradise. We are united with those we knew before. I believe there is still learning, growth, and missionary work on the other side. I believe, that there is a great preparation for those who have passed on, because a veil has been lifted from their eyes. I also believe that there are people who die that go into a spirit prison, who don't have the priviledges that the others have. I am not talking about un-baptized babies etc, because I really don't believe in that crap. People who committed great crimes while here on earth, and did not repent, is my opinion. I think that the great ones go to the spirit prison, and teach them there. I also believe that there is still a chance to accept Jesus after you die, and that is what they are doing. I don't believe that people go straight to hell when they die if they never had the opportunity to hear about Jesus. God would never do that. Sorry, I am rambling on.

i extremely believe that i visit achieve salvation from the continual cycle of start and absence of life (reincarnation), and be free to hitch the perfect understanding. this relies upon regardless of the reality that on the existence I at the moment stay, and if I actual have finished my accountability to my fellowmen, my usa, and myself to the better of my skill (karma), and in doing so not managed to piss too many human beings off, i experience i visit't be reincarnated. If notwithstanding my karmic responsibilities are pending, then i visit come back, and take delivery of the danger to redeem myself. Now if my karmic responsibilities have attained a income (extra good karma than undesirable), i'd be born as an animal or plant that may in effortless words do good karma (on account that i visit don't have any theory of excellent or evil), notwithstanding, If I actual were one recommend SOB, i am going to probable come back as Clinton, or Bush even Ayatollah Khomeini. I believe that you're going to the tunel and you see the light. You feel attrackted to that light. At the end Jesus is waiting for you, give you a hug and his blessing. Because God is a father of mercy and love he and only he will forgive your sins and recieve you with arms wide open. The body just die,and thats it, but your soul will rest in the paradise with all the angels.

If I died tomorrow, I believe I would go to "spirit paradise"... Maybe not Sunday though (just kidding)... I also believe in "spirit prison" where those who have not accepted the gospel (sometimes their fault, sometimes they just didn't have an opportunity) or were unrighteous during this life go/are.
From spirit paradise, I could also go to spirit prison to teach the gospel... if not, I would basically await the millenium and final judgement then (hopefully) eventually gain exaltation in my Father's Kingdom - the Celestial Kingdom.

Well, according to Paul, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
That's good enough for me!!
