Sometimes growths need to be removed because the get sore from getting bumped or lain on. Watch it closely, if it gets bigger you should have it removed. The bigger they are the more costly to you to remove. The only way to know if it is a bad lump is to have a needle aspirate done then if the labs says to remove it you will have to have it removed. If money is a concern just go ahead and have it removed and send it in for a Biopsy. Shop around because Vets vary greatly in price.

Cough up the $45 and take him to the vet for an exam.

Well, it is not an emergency situation, but it certainly needs to be checked out by a vet..So, it would be the best to call Monday and make an appointment.

Does it feel kind of like a cyst? If so, then it is nothing to worry about. Some dogs are prone to have "Zit-like" cysts sometimes. Some of them can be expressed but others are too hard and should be left alone. Umless it bothers your dog, it isn't anything to worry about.
