In, my opinion, No, they aren't bad.
The answer to this question is only one you can find within yourself. For there is no solid proof of god, heaven, hell, etc. All of it is faith. But I must tell you that most Christian denominations that I know of think Tarot and other forms of divination is wrong. Why? Some people believe you should have full faith in God and not rely on tools such as tarot to know your future. In other words, you should blindly follow your path and hope you are doing what's right.
One thing I should tell you is that Tarot cards are not satanic. They are paper cards made in a printing press.
But in your decision of deciding if tarot is right for you focus on this one thing: What do you believe? If you think tarot is going to send you straight to hell, don't read. I don't think it could benefit you in anyway. I personally believe in God and heaven and hell and angels and spirits, etc. I believe that there are things bigger than myself out there. I can't tell you what is right or wrong in God's eyes (neither can anyone else) because I am not God. I can only give you an opinion from what I know. This is soley a decision you will have to make for yourself. Do a little soul searching.
From my experience with tarot I have to tell you that it is a wonderful and enriching experience. People that read these cards aren't freaky roadside gypsies...but everyday people. Everyday people, jsut like you who have problems, and oddly enough...some of them are christian...just like you. Yeah, it isn't common, but possible. Basically in short, people come in all shapes and sizes with their own beliefs. Our beliefs are what make us...us. Decide for yourself. Don't let other people judge you from pure ignorance. Reading tarot cards doesn't make you a Satanist. In my experience it brings you closer to God. It has made me fully realize the power within myself...and the powers out of my control. I hope this helped you in your decision. God bless.

Tarot cards are absolutely not bad. The idea of the tarot is to allow you - the reader - to divine what energy patterns are coming into the life of the querent - the asker - or to determine the patterns surrounding a particular question they are asking about the present. This is accomplished by the shuffling of cards. During the shuffling of the cards, the querent transfers their personal energy and knowledge to the cards, subconsciously determining the order they will be laid out in. This gives the reader permission to divine things the querent often already knows for themselves. It is not supernatural, it does not involve demons or the devil (which don't exist, incidentally), and is merely a way for you to tell someone something they already know on some level, but usually don't want to believe or acknowledge.
If your mother is against it, wait until you're an adult and on your own before starting with the tarot. The cards will still be there when you have the freedom to begin working with them.
Bright blessings!

There is nothing wrong with them. If you want to prove your mom wrong, I would suggest getting some Oracle cards to start. They are similar to tarot cards but almost entirely positive. Getting some Angel Oracle Cards and letting your mom read about them with you would probably make her feel much better. I myself have Fairy Oracle cards. There are different kinds. Sylvia Browne writes alot of books on the subject and also puts out alot of Oracle cards. That would be a good middle ground to start. But remember, there is nothing evil or demonic about tarot.

It relies upon what you planned to be undesirable and how conservative you're. Tarot taking part in cards are not like ouija boards, they often do no longer invite spirits in or something like that. some human beings have faith that tarot taking part in cards are guided with tips from a divine stress, some human beings have faith they faucet into your subconscious. i've got been interpreting them for a pair years. that's a sprint creepy on the commencing up once you examine them and you already know that they are precise. once you're making plans on getting a deck, i might say pick the single that feels precise to you (sounds extraordinary, yet each and every so often you purely get that feeling). an excellent sort of decks are available a sequence with a quick e book explaining a thank you to apply them, multiple layouts, what all of them advise, so on. To sum it up, you p.c.. a format that fits the question you're asking or the concern you have, shuffle the taking part in cards collectively as questioning or speaking out loud with regard to the region and then deal them out into the format you chosen. the region of the cardboard interior the format tells you what it symbolizes, as an occasion, a three card unfold is purely 3 taking part in cards in a row. the single on the left is the previous, the single interior the midsection is the present, and the single on the final suited is the flair destiny concern. From there you verify out the taking part in cards and picture approximately what the photos characterize to you, and in case you choose you could look interior the e book for their definition. basic stuff, i've got on no account had a undesirable journey with them. of direction, in case you sense uncomfortable or scared for in spite of reason then cease. wish that helped!

No not bad - just bible-bashers trying to stop anything non-christian. Get a pack that feels right to you (there are different editions) and go ahead. if you can't decide on which pack to choose, then the Rider-waite pack is probably the best choice.

They are only bad if your get a paper cut.
They are simply a way to clear up your own thoughts on things, not to be used as a fortune telling device for specific answers.

I used to want them, too, and I was so mad when my mom wouldn't let me have any. I am so glad she didn't now...
Because you invoke the power of someone or something greater than you when you use the cards, and it isn't God. You open yourself to the enemies of God, the evil angels who left him, the ones we call demons. They are very powerful, and they can hurt you if you allow it.
The way to protect yourself is to stay away from these things, no matter how fun they look, and to remember God loves you. You have a guardian angel, after all!
