Clear it with your parents first.
If your parents don't allow you a dog, you need to realize that it is THEIR choice..They will be the ones ultimately and legally responsible for your pet..dogs live to be about 15 years old, with good nutrition..so your parents will have to face caring for the dog in its old age, if you are off to college or marry a military personnel, or live in a large city where you can't have a pet..
It costs at least $450 per year to keep a dog, for shots, worming, food, plus any emergency vet care...It is your parent's carpet to be ruined, furniture to be chewed, vacations to consider boarding, obedience classes to drive you and doggy to, sleepless nights to put up with....
Dogs are a whole LOT of problems and responsibility! If you get a medium to large dog, your parent's insurance rates will go up..
So, if they still say 'NO' you need to be mature and thoughtful enough to accept it...and to know they aren't refusing just out of meanness..
When you are paying the bills (rent) then you will have your own castle, and get as many dogs as you want.. Meantime..You need to clear such a decision with your parents.

i dont think that is a good idea. How old are you anyway? It will be a big suprise when they see the dog in the house and yes you payed for it but what happens when you are out with your friends and your parents are in for the night, then it will end up to be THEIR responsibility. What if the dog is agressive and tears apart pillows or shoes, your parents will be upset. And if it makes on the carpeting, you would have just ruined your parents house. I say wait till you have your own place.

You seem anxious getting one, and if you can live with taking care of a pet and responsibility, I would say go for it. If you are responsible and your parents will think you will take care of the pet, I say ask them! First ask them if you can get a pet and if she says I'll think about it, don't worry about paying for it yet. But if she says no, it's the money, then you can use your money if you really want it to pay for it.
The average price for a small dog is about $500.00 and less (exceptions such as bull dogs).
It depends what kind of dog you want also, and there are tons of dogs that are small. Do you want a dog that doesn't shed much, athletic?
I have a pug, and she is great! They are good for small spaces, and they are very playful! The only bad thing about them is that they shed (if you wear black clothes, the hair will be able to be seen) but they have little short hairs. They have ear problems (ear mites) and breathing problems, but those are minor. The good thing is that they hardly bark and they are quiet! To learn more, just e-mail me at @ liza2000_92@hotmail.com

HOW OLD ARE YOU???? No I dont think you should get a dog unless you consult your parents first. you may think it will be an easy task but it's not. Are you prepared to care for a dog for the next 15 years? Are you prepared to pay the Vet Bills if something should happen to your pet and it needs assistance? Just something to think about before getting a dog. I've had my dog for 13 years and 8 months. He is the best!

No or you'll be the one in the dog house instead of the dog. Show your parents the respect that they have earned by bringing you into this world and ask them if you can have a dog, but by no means go behind their backs and get one, that will tell them that you don't trust them enough to ask them and then they will not trust you and that is NOT something you want your parents to lose with you, their trust in you. They are trusting you to come to them for anything, from a dog to a major problem, and if you get a dog behind their backs that will tell them that that trust was misplaced.
Plus it is THEIR house, so their rules and I am sure that one of the unspoken but understood rules is that you MUST ask them if you can have a dog.

Never do anything without your parents permission. When you are under someone else's roof you will have to abide by their rules.
Also you need to think about if the dog breaks or destroys something in the house, Where do you think the money is going to come from to fix it or replace it. You guessed it, your pocket.

Having a dog is a BIG responsibility!! Please do not get one just so that you could look like Paris Hilton. Getting a dog is also very, very expensive, you have to remember they have to go to the vet like every month it seems like for the first year. Plus if you're still living with your parents you need to ask them. Having a dog is like having a kid, the difference is you can't leave a kid home alone whenever you want.

If you are a minor, then your parents will be legally responsible for the dog. Even if you plan to take responsibility for the dog yourself, the parents are still the ones who are ultimately responsible.
Money is not the issue. You need parents' permission to keep a pet in the home.

Why don't you just talk to your parents about it. Even if you use your own money, and you bring the dog home, your parents are obviously going to know and will probably get mad, because you didn't ask them first. and might not let you keep the dog. It's alway's better to be honest with them. Just tell them how you feel. You never know, they may say yes. Good Luck!

No! Because if they make you give it back or give it away because they don't want it in THEIR HOUSE it will only mean dissapointment for both YOU and the dog. It really isn't fair to the dog at all. I suggest you get their OK for it or wait until you're in a stable situation where you can keep the dog forever. Remember, dogs are a lot of work, especially puppies. They require walks every day and need a stable but firm owner to keep them out of trouble.
