Through developing a connection with God, you gain security through the conviction that you are not all alone in the universe, even at those times when you feel temporarily separated from other people. You feel increasingly safe as
you come to believe that there is a source you can always turn to in times of difficulty

if we accept this theory,which most believe it is true.
do you think this will be against atheists that feeling secure is through God , or it is against the believer that God made by human to feel secure?

Who cares if it's against any-ones beliefs, if you feel secure and you like the way you live your life then who cares what anyone says..Peace :0)

If you need god to not feel alone in the universe, that is simply a personality flaw. Myself (atheist) and many others that i know do not feel alone in the universe. I do not need a superstitious bond with an imaginary character to give my life meaning and purpose. It seems to me that your god is simply a patch for a deeper issue.

What is so frightening about being alone? I am proud to stand on my own two feet and not bow, beg or bend before any being, real or imaginary.

In order for God to approve of oneself, one must believe that he is. Does that answer your question?
