I like the inductive Bible Study method.

The Bible is its own best commentary, so utilize key words and concepts and a concordance to find other passages to discover what you're studying.

Word derivation helps immensely, so learn how to use an Englishman's concordance (different from a regular concordance).

I have discovered awesome stuff in the Bible that others have missed because they lean on commentaries which are inevitably shallow.

I've been studying the Bible for over 50 years and I recomend no study guide. Let the Bible interpret the Bible and not some guide to tell you what it means. Ask God to give you wisdom, let the Holy Spirit be your teacher, set aside some time each day and dig in any where. Take it literally because God gave us the Bible to reveal truth to us, not hide it from us. Interpret symbols as symbols because the literal interpretation of a symbol is as a symbol. Follow 3 simple rules that are given in the Bible. Ask for wisdom (James 1) Be willing to do what God shows you (John 7:17) and stay in the Bible (John 8:32-33)

Probably The Companion Bible, but I would also recommend using a Strong's Concordance, so you can access the Hebrew and Greek words originally used.

salvationhistory.com has a good bible study and is completely free. scripturecatholic.com, fisheaters.com also have intersting sections. the best thing bookwise is to go to your local christian store and browse through untill you find what you want, the cathecism is also beneficial to understanding major teachings of the bible.

Try any study from Precept Ministries. They study inductively. That means you get almost everything a Scripture says.

I would recommend an NLV, NKJV, NSRV, NSAV, etc. Pretty much any Bible except NIV because they refuse to use God's real name (in all caps).
