complain to the local authority, I wonder if it'll be the first Cockerel in history to get an ASBO?

There is absolutely nothing you can do legally unless the squawking is at crazy hours and 6 or 7 am isn't considered a crazy hour. I would talk to the owner. They may regret buying the bird due to the noise it makes and may be looking for an excuse to get rid of it. Just go over and be direct but nice, don't go over being b**chy or they may keep it out of spite. If it's the kid's pet or something offer to buy a bunny rabbit or something, they're more fun and less quiet annyway.

go and speak to them and ask them to keep it shut in the henhouse until 8 am. Cockerels won't crow if they don't see daylight. I breed chickens and have lots of cockerels and keep them shut in at night. The cockerel will crow a lot during the first few weeks of getting a new home. He is shouting out so that any other cockerels in the area know he is there. He will quieten down in time.
However, you cannot complain about it crowing during the daytime. People are allowed to make noise etc during the day. Perhaps you could invest in some earplugs?

What kind of relationship do you have with your neighbour? He may thought this was a good idea but if he has just bought the one it is going to be noisy! He needs to have a couple of hens that will carm it abit you could buy as apresent !ha! ha! or speak to him tell him your thoughts maybe he could go and swap it for a hen not much noise and maybe you will even get some fresh eggs and all will be happy! Good luck!

The old way to stop a cockerel crowing at unsocial hours was to raise his perch so that he couldn't lift his head to crow but of course the owner would have to want to quieten the bird too.
Good luck

Get in touch with your local council environmental officer. This is classed as noise polution in a residential area, my mum & her neifghbours had a similar problem a while back & the people were told they could not keep a cockerel at that location. Good luck

if you life in the country side sorry nothing at all you can do!
in the city or town then yes the council would have to be noteified? and a licence will have to be given to him for the bird
if how ever no licence he will have to give the bird up!

I sympathise with you. Our neighbour had one years ago and you could set your clock by it. 5.15am on the dot. It'll get earlier as the morning get lighter.

It's not illegal but you can do something about it. Phone your enviromental office and they will send some one out. It's the same as if it was a dog barking or load music.

There are devices that you can buy that emit a frequency that quiet neighbor dogs. Pet Smart may carry them. This should work. Try talking to your neighbor. We used to and it worked wonders. Have a nice day.
