usually a foul smell means infection, but if the vet said otherwise, it may just be yucky ears. the ear drops will help, u can use a cotton ball damp with warm water every day or every other day to help keep them clean. some breeds are more prone to have bad ears than others, namely cocker spaniels. keeping the ears clean is going to be your best bet, tomyln makes a really good ear cleaner if the warm water isnt cutting it. you can find it onlin at petedge.com or dog.com, it is made by tomyln, i recommend anything made by them.

When you say that the vet said it's normal, you never stated whether or not it was normal because of an infection, or it's just the way the ears smell.

The most common cause of "ear stink" is an infection, which will need antibiotics to clear up. Should they still stink after the infection is gone, try having her ears cleaned and plucked or you can use a number of different ear solutions at home.

It is not normal! Get a second opinion. It could be an infection, ear mites or the dog may have excess hair growing in it's ears. In any case a dogs ears should not smell. If you want to clean them Petsmart sells an ear wash. Put some on a piece of cotton and use your index finger and the cotton to clean the ear. Do not go too deep into the canal or use a q-tip you could damage the ear canal. But please find out what is causing the odor.

It's not normal for your dog's ears to stink. You probably are dealing with some kind of infection, whether it's yeast, bacteria, rods or cocci. Did your vet run an ear swab through the lab to see what is going on? I would recommend that you start with that if he has done so already.

Probably a yeast infection or the start of one. You can use MalAcetic Otic to clean them weekly. It's available at most pet stores.

My vet told me you can use a q-tip on a dogs ears without worry. Their ears are not the same as ours and you cannot reach the eardrum with a q-tip in a dogs ears.
