Can anyone answer this one? If I attempt to drink a beer before I fly, if me and my friends have time to spare at the airport (and I always decline now) for a swift pint; even a half of beer will cause me agony when the plane starts to decend near its destination.

As the plane drops I start to get dizzy and excrutiating pain in my head; especially in my eyes. The pain and pressure is so bad I feel my eyes are about to explode. Several times Ive also nearly blacked out.

For obvious reasons I wont now touch any alcohol if im flying. I can also get the same symptons from fizzy drinks. My mates think its funny. What causes it?; they can drink a couple of pints and be fine. I daren't. This only seems to affect me; and only if I drink alcohol. Any ideas?

Barry my old son that's not beer doing that to you its cabin pressure on your ear drums as you descend as some folk will get extreme pain others get popping in the ears and others nausea just suck a boiled sweet going up and coming down and i think you will be OK give it a try next flight and if it still persist then have a word with your doctor as i suspect you have inner ear trouble which controls your balance

A couple of pints before flying is normally not bad for you because it thins the blood - it might be it does the opposite to you - go and check with your GP

its nothing to do with drink, thats just a coincedence, its your ears reacting to the cabin pressure change.
