I get so tired of people recommending CHILI POWDER or CAYENNE PEPPER! It's cruel! Cats get it on their paws, clean their faces, get it in their eyes, and can literally claw their eyes out. DON'T use pepper!

A squirt gun, especially one of the ones that will shoot a LONG way, is a good idea. You must be diligent, though. If you spray the cat often enough, he will probably get the hint and stay away from you and your car altogether. It's humane, the cat hates it, and it won't damage your paint in any way.

Get a dog!! Lol. You could try and buy one of these ultrasonic devices. They produce high pitched signals that are only audible to the cat, they cost between 30 and 60 quid which might be a bit extortionate for you though. oooor if it really annoys you spray it with the hose, or put some holly on it so it gets a little shock when it springs up in the car. I know this sounds really mean but it will probably get through to the cat more than anything else. If these ideas aren't any good try going to your local garden centre and see what they have to offer!!

Good luck

Cover your car, maybe with something padded.
Or else, set the car alarm on, and the noise will scare the cat. It will also annoy you, but it will only need to be done a few times as the cat will learn quickly that cars are scary! Good for him too, as they are for real.

I wouldn't have thought the cat needs to claw to jump on the car though. Are you sure its scratching it? Cats don't walk with their claws out, they only get them out to climb on trees.

Suing the neighbours is ridiculous! For a cat napping on the bonnet??? What kind of people are you??? I bet you'd sue your kids for farting.

And declawing is a mutilation, it's like chopping off the tip of your fingers, that's barbaric and no respectable cat owner should ever do that. Animal cruelty!

You could ask the neighbour to contribute to an ultrasound device as well, if they are reasonable people.

I'm sure you'll sort it out, you sound like a humane person.
Good luck!

Hi i have 4 cats and they like to sleep on the bonnet of my boyfriends car because its warm as it takes a while for the engine to cool, but to try and stop them i added a few drops of CITRONELLA oil to the water when washing the car obviously when it rains it gets washed away so i made a solution in a spray bottle and give the car a few squirts every other day it doesn't smell that nice but it saves your paint,i hope it works for you and remember not to make the solution to strong as it can be an overpowering smell good luck..(don't squirt the windscreen)

Use a hose water sprinkler with a movement activated sensor. Spraying the cat with water is the kindest way to stop it doing this sort of thing, we have used a water pistol in the house to stop our cats jumping on kitchen surfaces etc and it works really well.

If a cat is going to stop doing something then they have to associate it with an unpleasant experience, the only successful harmless methods are water or using lemon juice, and you probably won't be watching the car with a water pistol enough to stop it that way.

I have 6 cats, 2 of them love to play in my Xmas tree every year and knock stuff off. I found a spray thats suppose to be a cat repellant (sorry can't find bottle atm and not sure of the name). But I sprayed it around the tree and they didn't touch it this year. Maybe try spraying it sometimes until they get in the habit of not jumping on your car.

Without harming the cat? shame i can think of many ways to get rid of it by harming the cat. you have to be carefull of what u use beucase u dont want it to react with the paint work. u can get sprays which humans cant smell, but cats absolutely detest the smell and u could spray that on your car. if theres no luck there, that guys chilli idea could work and i also hear cats dont like vinigar, but again i dont know if it will harm ur paint work

Certain cars the cats seem to like more than others. Ours is one. I haven't figured out how to stop them yet. I have taught them not to jump up on my car, but unfortunately, this is only when I am around. When my back is turned, they are right back up there.

I have heard of people putting chile powder on the car and then it gets on the cats paws. Then he licks the paws and finds out he doesn't want to step in the powder on your car anymore.

Other then that if you are able to watch your car spray the cat with water when he attempts to jump on your vehicle.
