MY fiance is going overseas soon. we live 1000 miles away. his dad was wondering if i wanted to move down to be closer to them. i live with my mom and my sister, but they don't really get it how big a deal it is for him to be deployed. i spent the summer with his fam, so it's not like they are strangers to me. Any advice?

That's your decision but personally I would rather be with my family and plan to visit my future in-laws periodically and keep in touch with them often by phone or e-mail. I agree it's a BIG DEAL for him to be deployed! I didn't sleep good for a year when my son-in-law was in Iraq. If you're close to your mother and sister, they should be a lot of support even though right now they don't fully understand what deployment can mean when it's happening to someone you love.

My question to you is how do you feel about it? Where are you more comfortable, with your family or his? Go to where you know you can have a lot of support, because you will need it now that he's gone for a while. Plus you have to take in consideration your job (if you work) or your school and all the complications about a move like this. My personal opinion is to be where you are.
Good luck!

As a military spouse, I would stay where you are. I would say the same thing even if you and your Fiance were already married. Your future in-laws may be wonderful people, but it would be best to go visit them rather than live with them.

I would deeply consider moving. Your marying him, so getting close to his family is the worst idea. And you know, if things don't work out there, you'll always have a place to come home-to!

In my opinon I would say simoky move... if you love him is the trick though. You must be certain that you are in love before you go and uproot yourself from a location that you like. Its your call.
