The worst aspects of the worst case scenarios of global warming happen near the coasts of countries, which is where most people on the earth live. The examples i'm referring to are devastating hurricanes and rising sea levels causing massive death tolls and massive refugee crises. As far as pollution goes, it depends on where one lives and the concentration and type of pollution. Anyone who says otherwise about the seriousness of global warming and pollution is being willfully ignorant of the facts presented by the world wide scientific community.

Actually the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.
Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.
Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.
I hope that helps...

what global warming? you must be referring to natural climate change, such as the colder than normal weather that came in the 70s and 80s. We have had CFC's in the air for a long long time, in the past its release was unregulated. Since the 90s it has been extremely regulated, yet all of a sudden global warming is going to kill us if we dont do something about it now, if we dont drive hybrids and watch al gore's new movie we're all gonna die! Please..... if global warming were true, it would have happened a looong time ago when cars polluted the air more, as well as industrys. Remember when everything in a can emitted cfc's, like hairspray. Cars are cleaner now than ever before. The hole in the ozone has actually been closing, Al Gore has always been a "green" guy, in the 90s he wrote a book and made it clear that he would like to see the end of all gas engines within the next few years. The guy is on a mission and he's got you guys following now, global warming public enemy #1, be afraid or were all gonna die. Go see my movie and make sure you vote for me next time. Uh huh..

I do believe we could survive the extremity of it. I think this because previous human species have survived without technology through global warming and Ice Ages. Although Ice Ages do wipe out entire species (wooly-mammoth). Which you would expect such an extriordinary animal to live.
This will be one of the worst things mankind will have to survive. The question is, How bad will it get? In 200 years, will it look something like Venus? That's what we can't survive.

Until we know the real causes of global warming it is very hard for any rational person to make any type of statement. Pollution is another thing. No matter what, we need to get that under control. Despoiling our home is just plain stupid

Not really because we caused this distruction ourselves, we will just die to put it simply like that. But don't worry we all have to die someday.
