The only reason we burn natural gas and coal is because it costs about 3 times less than renewable. When we start to run low on coal, then solar will be less expensive. If you know some people who want $500 and $600 per month utility bills for an apartment than you can buy a zero emissions unit today. It is much more economical to build the "Doug Rye" way than to use solar.

I would rather live in a zero emission house--I want a yard to grow a garden. But I like eco friendly.

Sounds wonderful. However, although we are making good progress, I am skeptical that such a place can be constructed at a price that would make the rent comparable to other more traditional apartments.

Sounds like a freakin' commune to me: peace, free love, plenty of grass to smoke.
Hey, wait a minute, you couldn't smoke grass there. Bummer.
