There are pills that stop your period from coming every month, although you will still get it occasionally. Talk to your doctor about that. Women get periods because we have the ability to carry a child- if you never had a period you would never be able to conceive.

Health professionals know a lot about the what's and the how's, etc. But when it comes to answering the question of "why?" we are kind of at a loss. As mentioned above, we DO know that it is not necessary to have a period every month, birth control can make periods a thing of the past, with no proven ill side effects aside from the rare ones associated with "the pill" itself.
So then why do periods exist? Here is my rationalle....and it may sound morbid, but follow me here....
Subtract birth control, no condoms, no pills, nada..... Now why does a uterus exist? .....to make babies. But the truth is that about 40% of pregancies spontaneously abort very early in pregancy....it is a natural occurence, natures way of assuring "perfection" in development....and most happen at the first period after fertilization, so a woman wouldn't even know she was pregant. When pregnancy is good, the body stops having periods and normal pregancy proceeds. But for all the failed attempts, how is a woman's body supposed to get rid of the abortus? It would be a very bad scene if all the failed pregancies were not somehow removed.....a lot of biological junk would be stuck ot the walls of the uterus making future pregnancies either endangered or even impossible. Fortunately nature has a way of cleaning house, once a month,it dumps all good and bad tissue alike....assuring a clean new slate for future pregnancies while ridding itself of any failed ones. Fail proof method....that is nature for ya ;)

I'm a nurse. I'm not sure what you mean, but I will do my best to explain. We have our periods for a indication we are ready for adulthood like having babies. Once pregnant our blood is held and used to help develop the fetus(baby). There is no way we could get out of our periods by medicine. Women who have had a hysterectomy don't have a period or can have a baby. I hope this is useful to you. Take care and feel better.

I don't know for sure but I think it is because we need to get new blood so if we have a baby it will have some what Clean blood . But I know this for a fact you can't take a pill. I asked my doctor that same question .

You can take the birth control pill everyday and skip the placebos, but the safety of that action is debatable. You can also get a birth control shot- more risky, but no period. You only have to think about it once every three months.

I know, it's quite unfair.... but there are methods to stop your period... like getting a Depot Vera shot, but unfortunately, if you are like me you will have spotting for 3 months straight instead.

the reason for our period is that when we ovulate and the egg does not get fertilized the egg and the lining of our uterus that has thickened with blood get expelled out of our bodies
