No, obviously you're only getting half the dose. For some people half the dose can do the job though, so it's best to take as little as possible.
Also you should only really break tablets that have break marks on them in half because they're tested to make sure the medicine in each bit is equal, ones without break marks aren't. (And obviously if it says swallow this tablet whole, don't break/chew them!)
Hope this helps!

Well, it depends on how sensitive you are to the medication in the pill.
Usually there is a dose range of effectiveness. It depends on a lot of factors such as age, build, and metabolism. Older people and people of a smaller build may require lower doses than larger people in many instances. At higher doses, any benefit may be outweighed by side effects. Also, depending on the medication and how it distributes in the body (in fat, for example), people may require higher or lower doses depending on how obese they are. Some people may have active liver enzymes for a drug that would cause them to metabolize the medication faster and thus require higher doses for the same effect. The reverse is true as well.
For example, I've found for some sleeping medications, patients may do well with one tablet. Others need two, while others can get by on a half tablet, or they are groggy the next morning. If you are supposed to be on a pain medication and find that it is too strong for you (makes you feel drowsy, for example), I would discuss this with your doctor. Depending on the medication, the tablet may be able to be divided. However, some medications have a time-release coating and could not be divided or else the time-release feature of the medication would be lost. Just be aware that you take the risk of losing any pain relief if you half the dose in an attempt to get rid of side effects. Always let your doctor know before you make any dose changes on your own. Your doctor will best be able to decide if it is a good idea to lower the dose or to switch medications. There may be a better medication for you that gives you pain relief without adverse side effects.

Dosages are based largely on age and body weight. The amount of any non-prescription medication (ie Asprin) and it's relative effects will vary from person to person. However the little dividing line down the middle of most headache tablets is there for a reason. Yo can take half and expect to feel some sort of effect, however it is unlikely to be of as great an effect as a whole tablet.

Don't listen to people who tell you no, that is just uneducated talk. Medication is not evenly distributed throughout the pill, if you only take half, you may get all the medicine in the half you eat, or there may be very little or no medicine at all in that half. So you may get the full dose,no dose at all, or half the dose, it is a gamble.
This is not true of all medication, but most.
Always take the entire pill unless otherwise ordered by your doctor. You can check with your doctor if you want verification on this, it is fact.

no - but what does help if you have to take a painkiller is to take 1 every 2 hours instead of 2 every 4 hours, a pharmasist recommended this as it keeps the dose 'topped up' rather than allowing it to wear off. It's worked for me!

right it truly is yet in a particular way of watching Purgatory. An analogy that could want to help you take care of what we promote with the help of Purgatory is the concept that the "hearth" of Purgatory is truthfully the love of God. honestly, ideal understood, the "hearth" of Purgatory, the "hearth" of Hell, and the "hearth" of Heaven (for the OT speaks of Heaven as a "fiery" position somewhat many circumstances) is all, basically, the same hearth, it truly is the burning and unquenchable Love of Almighty God. And, relying on the disposition of a soul on the time of lack of existence, at the same time as each and each and every little element else distinct than God is stripped far flung from them, the soul will both be tormented with the help of this "hearth" (i.e., Hell with the help of fact the soul needs not something to do with God), or he might want to be purged of lingering sin with the help of this "hearth" (Purgatory), or he will be able to unite with the "hearth" itself (Heaven), because both the soul and the hearth share an issue-free Nature (2 Peter a million:4)--it truly is, the soul has already been switched over precise right into a photo of Christ (a saint) previous to lack of existence. So, surely relies upon on the soul's disposition. Or, look at it this way: If someone is asleep in a dismal room, and someone by marvel throws open the curtains to bare an outstanding, sunny day, and if the guy has had an outstanding evening's sleep, and is able to rouse, he will be able to open his eyes and greet the morning solar without issue (i.e., Heaven). to boot the plain incontrovertible fact that, if the guy is tormented with information from a foul carry-over and has had little or no sleep in any appreciate, he will conceal his face below the blankets and prefer not something to do with the solar (i.e., Hell). to boot the plain incontrovertible fact that, if he's truly a contact hung-over, or although a contact sleepy, he will be able to open his eyes truly—to tentatively look on the solar, as he struggles to acclimate to the morning solar (i.e., Purgatory). In essence, it somewhat is all Catholicism is saying appropriate to the Afterlife, at the same time as a Christian finally sees the surely acceptable fact, it truly is God. in the journey that they imagine of about it, a Protestant would not believe in a particular way in any appreciate. God Bless Robin

you should never take half of a painkiller. they have time released ingredients and when you break it in half the active ingredient can be released to soon. with some stronger meds this can be a disaster for overdose.
