Can anyone give me some intelligent advise regarding HPV, I need a little help comforting my daughter who just found out she has it.. she is 24 and a lesbian.. I love her more than anything and don't want anything to happen to her, I'd be lost.
Thanks in advance

tell her not to worry, because HPV is a VERY common std for women (most women get it by the age of 50) and can be kept under control with medicine. there is also a great new vaccine for several types of HPV called Gardasil that you can get from your doctor or possibly Planned Parenthood (depending on where you live). it is very expensive, but PP will probably make it cheaper and it may be covered by her insurance if she gets it from her doctor. i would HIGHLY recommend that ALL women get it as it prevents the types of HPV that cause cervical cancer. good luck to both you and her!

HPV doesn't mean you have cervical cancer. HPV could, however, cause cells to be cancerous if not treated. It could be treated in several ways depending on the severity of it. What did her Doctor suggest? I had HPV in my early 20's. I got treated by freezing away the bad cells. Now my paps are normal. And, they explained to me that because I've had it, my body is immune to it now. Not likely that I'll get it again. Tell her to get treated and she should be fine. Good luck!
