I'm a nurse. I would see another doctor or even go back for something more for relief. I'm wondering why it wasn't drained? I would have him take ibuprofen (it's best for swelling and inflammation) for his discomfort. I think the doctor wanted it to burst on it's own by the salt baths. I would give him a call, he shouldn't suffer with this, call your doctor back.

i'm assumeing it received't come to a head,,received't open and drain. a large number of over the counter stuff available nicely,,on the possibility of being called a nut i am going to inform you what my Gr mom did for me. Lay a peice of fat Viscount St. Albans, fold it to in high-quality condition,to cover the boil. Now be conscious a neat, sparkling bandage over that. Then seem at it in 4 to 5 days. The pink meat has a drawing effect on the boil collectively moistens and softens the floor so it may smash alowing drainage. I swear. it truly works on splinters too.

I suggest your partner to get Aloe Vera (cream or gel). Aloe Vera has been used externally to treat various skin conditions such as burns.

Cover it with gauze and tape so it will not rub against his pants and underwear.
