I'm sure some regret it, but most people don't. I joined the Marine Corps after high school because I was tired of school, didn't want to go to college yet, and wanted to get out and see the world a little.
It was the best thing I ever did in my life. By the time I got out, I had seen the world, spent about 8 months in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm, made some of the best friends a guy could find, was eligible for the GI Bill, was ready to return to school, and had a fresh outlook on life. As much of a pain in the butt it was at times, they were definitely the best days of my life so far.
When my son is old enough and asks if he should join, I would definitely tell him yes.

The only ones that regret being a Marine is one that was never really a Marine...Being a Marine is a way of life and it lives in your heart. They may regret going to war, since war is not a nice activity, but being a Marine is the best anyone can ever be. God bless and protect my beloved Corps and all it's Marines, Semper Fi!!!

Yeah, I'm sure there have been regrets, but not in my case.
I enjoyed the Marine Corps, I was good at it, and I regret not being a lifer. I'.m still very much involved with the MEPS center in my community and there are many things I can do for them that even the MC League doesn't do.
I particularly enjoy the mutual respect we offer each other. They know that I know the grey areas that they can't convey to a civilian, but can to me. In some ways, it will always be a closed society, of which only a Marine can be a part!

I will never regret being a Marine . I continue to live by the values instilled in me at Parris Island and the lessons learned in training that I carried into war. War is truly hell but due to the training that I received in the Corps I honestly feel that it increased my chances to survive when the occasion arrived. I will always be a Marine and am very proud to say so!! We are a Fraternity of Brothers no matter what generation that one is from. Semper Fidelis!!!

I regret NOT being a Marine. I went to PI last year and broke my arm (it healed after 1yr) and got sent home after 5 months. I wish it never happened, but I know that this way @ least I can be with my husband (a Marine) all the time... well, when possible.

Although I wasn't in the Marines, I severely regret my service in the military. The things that happened, the people I was exposed to and the long term effects of it all is something I wish was never a part of my life. I don't think what branch of the service will really change any of that.

Those that can't handle the training or get picked on must feel bad.
