Christians are not misinformed about science in general, however, if given a choice between bible teaching and man-made theory, true christians will opt for the bible, and here are some of the reasons why:
Archaeologists have discovered many places by following descriptive sites in the bible and have discovered many things in their digs that were only mentioned in the bible.
The bible states that an eagle can see his food from high up in the sky, and scientists have only discovered this to be fact in recent years.
At one time it was believed that the world was flat, but the bible describes the earth as being a sphere.
At one time it was believed by different cultures that the earth was being held up into place by something. (a man, an elephant, etc.). The bible states that the earth is suspended upon nothing.
so who was right here....man-made theory, or the greater scientist? These are just some of the examples, however, true christians are also not totally naive, and reason, logic and common sense are marks of true christianity, so when something sounds reasonable, logical and makes sense, as long as it does not contradict bible teaching, it is and should be acceptable and believable. However if it contradicts bible teaching, we opt for the greater scientist....namely God.

We like to think we're more well-rounded, and emotionally balanced--and that just doesn't leave as much time to specialize in any one area, but I've still known genius-level Christians who were pretty low-key and subtle. You wouldn't qualify to be a member of that group.
As for the last ice age, how do we KNOW that carbon dating is absolutely linear--we assume it is, and it has been during recorded history, but we have no way to be absolutely SURE it's always been the same.
Also, you might be made fun of by an English major for your shortcomings, but the intelligent experts in any field generally have enough grace to not point out your every fault.
So grow up, don't be such a snob, learn grace and charity. Best of luck expanding your consciousness in a healthy way.

I think you made a generalization here...you can't say statements like that without proof.
For example, I'm a Christian with 2 science degrees (B.S. meteorology and M.S. earth science) and published papers in science journals. I know some Christians don't accept some scientific theories accepted by all credible scientists (with evolution and the big bang topping that list). However, there are many credible scientists such as myself that are Christians (or believe in God in general).
I'm offended by your ignorance.

I believe in God (though I'm not a Christian). You can ask me anything about physics, astrophysics, theoretical astrophysics, quantum mechanics, etc. I don't see what the last ice age has anything to do with it. You can't just give somebody a pop quiz about some obscure fact and expect to be proving a point when they don't answer, or don't answer correctly. That's bad logic.

so you think your really clever. well it may interest you to know that according to science the earth is currently in an ice age called the Quaternary. We are currently and for the last 11,500Bp expierencing an interglacial periond which is a relatively warm period. so your question on when the last ice age ended is a load of rubbish. and yes i am a christian.

Here is another theory to consider. Science has recently made a stride towards proving creationism. Quantum physics has come up with the "String Theory". It postulates that all matter, everything that exists, consists of "strings" of vibrating energy. That the arrangement of these strings produces the various forms and types of all matter. The creation account describes God as "speaking" everything into existence. Sound being a vibrating energy...? Investigate this and you will find it's true.
Science has always been man's attempts to explain and understand the things of God.

I personally would say that I am not, because in fact I am not woefully misinformed about science in general (well... to the extent that we've discovered things.)
In fact, frankly, I could likely stump you on science questions more easily than you could me (I know a few un-googleable things about astronomy and paleo-anthropology.)
(Alas, however... in reading your answers, I see that your premise is stronger than I thought. String theory is a theory meant to tie up the gravitational loose ends of quantum mechanics, and has no relationship with 6-day creationism.)

That is very rude. Do you not think of others and how that is an attack on Christians.I'm not quiet sure what u mean about Christians thinking they aren't misinformed but I do know that it isn't your place and u should respect others beliefs whether or not u think the same. It's proper manners to do so.

Not all Christians are anti-science, nor are they necessarily ignorant of science. Some outstanding and brilliant scientists are Christians, for that matter.
It's just that the more fundamentalist, anti-intellectual ones make more noise.
