WASHINGTON - Immigrants arrested for being in the United States illegally may have been charged up to six more times, for more serious crimes, after they were released by local authorities, new Justice Department data indicate.

Additionally, a separate report also issued Monday concludes that the number of illegal immigrants deported after being declared a felon is on the rise.

The Justice findings by department Inspector General Glenn A. Fine examined the criminal histories of 100 illegal immigrants arrested and then released by local and state authorities in 2004, the latest complete data available. Of the sample group of 100, according to the audit, 73 immigrants were later arrested a collective 429 times — on charges ranging from traffic tickets to weapons and drug charges

Call this a stereotype, unfair or not, but I think statistically illegal immigrants are not well off financially, and statistically I think crime is higher among poorer populations. So poor illegal immigrants are more likely to commit crime. And they might think they can get away with it, so the thought of getting caught doesn't deter them as much as it might someone else.

The illegal aliens consist of many types of people. Some are normal people that perhaps are looking for the proverbial "better life".But a large number are life long criminals..They are seeking only to better their own pocket books by committing crimes such as robbery, breaking and entering, assault, car theft, etc.
This criminal elements
only concern is for what they can take from someone. Most often the victims of theses crimes are other illegals, and also legal Americans. They own allegiance to no one or to any country.
They are simply criminals. Our state and federal prisons are full of the criminal illegal aliens. It costs tax dollars to feed and house prisoners, they should be shipped back to their own country and incarcerated there .That would be the right thing to do The criminal element of all nations is way out of hand.We need better law enforcement and citizen participation to help stop this
attack on law abiding people.

Well if they didn't commit the crimes then they wouldn't be arrested. What I want to know is why were they even here to be arrested since the penalty for an illegal alien that is charged with a felony is deportation after they serve their sentence? But in the grand scheme of things and the Bush
administration pushing forward towards his daddy's new world order and one world government I suppose it really doesn't matter if anyone is deported.

You have really asked 3 questions.
Why are there so many illegal aliens?
Why do they get into trouble so often?
And why isn't the problem being taken care of?
A1: We live in a great country. Nobody is clamoring to get into Iceland.
A2: These people live on the margins. No welfare; no unemployment insurance; no Disability if they get hurt on the job. No drivers license, no insurance, no going to the cops if your husband beats you up. Living in fear of being discovered, and having your children taken from you. It's a tough life, but still better than before.
A3: We lack the government will and resources to address the problem. Cutting your taxes, Yay, means cutting border control jobs, Boo. We can't have it both ways.
Frankly, I'd rather try to find a better way to get these "new Americans" in the FRONT door. :-)

Because our government leaders are afraid of losing the vote, if they get tough on illegal immigration. Thats why congress is beating around the bush with their 100 hour agenda. The war, stem cell. what else? Immigration will probably be their last bill and they know it may cause massive violence here in the US when it's passed, no matter which way it goes.

One in five prisoners in our federal prison system are illegal immigrants.

When the government said they were stopping the "catch & release" they conveniently "forgot" to tell us this does not include Mexicans....Mexicans are still caught & released....

Did you see where Jesse Diaz. LULAC leader in DFW was shown this report his answer was that -Mexicans are learning this criminal behavior for Americans......typical - always someone else's fault after all they just come to work!

I think it is time to deputize citizens to help with deporting millions of illegal aliens.

Deputizing used to work in the past, there is no reason why it won't work today.

Might be becouse of the liberals who have bleeding hearts? We are a generation that has been led to believe we should take care of our fellow man,and love every being? Personally Im tired of taking care of ingrates. Our children are tought in schools to love every race and treat them as you want to be treated,I think its time for America to wake up and treat them as they are treating us?

I know there are several stories hitting the streets and my feeling is that some are discriminatory, but the ones being arrested on Federal charges for things like identity theft are valid.
