Hi, I had 2 vials of steroids and local anesthetic injected into my neck and shoulders today, and I feel extremely dizzy and I'm in a LOT of pain (2.5 hours later). Even moreso than when I got Botox injected into the same muscles. Is that normal? My hearing seems a little off too. A lot of my doctors have said that have the tightest muscles they've ever felt (post whip-lash injury), could that be why? Could the muscles just be really irritated from the 12-15 injections I got? Thank you!

I told my doctor before I left that I was dizzy and had a burning sensation. She said that it was normal, and just to be careful walking -- she also said that I could anticipate some pain later today. I've never heard of it being this severe though, which is what I'm concerned about. Also, she only stays until 4pm I believe, so I cannot call her office to ask. I don't think it's an emergency though, as far as enough to make me go in to the ER. ??? Has anyone had these trigger point injections before?

I'm a nurse. You should see a ER doctor for this. You need to see someone right away it could be a sensitivity to the drug.

I have had them in my back, buttocks and hip. It felt like to me after the Novocaine whore off like they broke each needle off and left it in. Pain from zero to 10 I was a 25. The pain was so bad I got sick to my stomach. I would have went to the emergency room but I had no insurance. I hurt for about a week then slowly got better. I layed on the couch on ice for those days other then going to the bathroom. If you have insurance hit the ER so they can give you something for the pain and so they can also see whats up with with you being dizzy. This may be part from how bad your hurting. If you don't go to the ER at least call the doctor's answering service and have him/her call you back Tonight. Don't suffer thats not what they would want you to do. They get calls all the time, do not wait till midnight. They would rather you called Now. It will make you feel better to not worry. Good Luck I feel for you.

I've had a lot of trigger point injections and you probably shouldn't be in that much pain. It is possible for the doctor to hit a nerve or tendon when doing injections without being able to see exactly where they're going. I think you should call the ER and talk to the consulting nurse and see if she recommends you be seen (I think you should). Good luck.
