My favorite micro brews are New Belgium (anything they make is awesome) and Rock Bottom Brewery...good stuff.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout from the North Coast Brewing Co in Fort Bragg CA. Old Crustacean Barley Wine from the Rogue Brewery in Newport OR(not really a dark but mighty tasty and about 11.5% alcohol and Dead Guy Ale from the Rogue Brewery.

+1 for Old Rasputin. I used to live in Ft Bragg. I enjoy Mirror Pond Obsidian Stout, Moylans' Imperial Stout and my #1 Fav is Stone Imperial Russian Stout! So thick and black its like old motor oil.

definatly dogfish head worldwide stout with an alc$ around 21% it will put hair on your chest. it tastes like a mix between a port wine and a stout and is stroooooooooong as can be. one is enough to make you feel good for a long time

There is a fairly new micro brewery in Richmond Va called Legend brewery. All the beers are good!! If ever in Va give them a try.

I live north of seattle in marysville wa. I love skagit river brown it is pretty stout but mellow after like a brown Try looking for skagit river brewery mt vernon wa.

that's relatively a hard question, simply by fact as I write this, there are in all danger a dozen intense-high quality microbrews hitting the marketplace (alongside with fifty crappy ones!). i've got not tried each thing, for sure, yet i haven't been upset with the Anchor Steam family members of brews.
