I just got many replies, Thanks. I wanted to know how long I have. I have Post Radiation Damage to the Spinal Cord. I had survived 2 Hodgkins attacks. The doctor told me that I would have cancer again before the 5 year remission date. I went the 5 years and did get it again. It was the Radiation that gave it to me. Now I have PRD. This is the side effect of radiation. I want to know how long does anyone have with PRD. The only info I found says that the longest anyone has gone with PRD is 29 to 35 years. I would like to know what is going to happen and in what time frame. I want to get my stuff in order, if you know what I mean. The doctors say that they can only make me coffortable, I want to know how long before I go paralized and if it will be the whole body and what will happen in a step by step.I have been on line but cannot find the info I need. The Doctors are not talking. They didn't think I would be around this long and now are affraid to say anything more.

The info from the web is this, If you were given any kind of radiation, "you will have sige effects" If you have them righ after you will be o.k. If you don't "yo will have them later" The doctors never told me this. Al they said was that If I had the radiation it would save my life. They did not say that it would cause the cancer to come back and be even more agressive. They said that I would have cancer again some where else and I would die. Well I haven't. But I am going through this PRD.It took a cancer doctor "not the same one as before" to tell me that this is what I have been going through for the last 10 yrs, He won't tell me now how long and the web only says that the longest anyone has lived with this is 29/35 yrs. And All is says is that I will be paralized starting with the feet up. I want to know what happens after that and how long it takes to finish me after the side effects start progressing. Any Docs out there want to take this on...

By the way. The doctor that is helping me know says that I am rare. I asked why and he said " because the others did not last this long". I want everyone to know. I had to take the radiation at the time. But if it where now and with the info I have so far, I might want to do it differently. I am home bound at 42 year old. I have a son age 8. I had to but him on ice. just to have a child. If I had known that in 8 years I would be suffering this I (1) would not have had a child. (2) I wouyld have had him much earlier. I sucks to have him watch his daddy die a slow death at the age of 8. I could have had him 10 earlier (it was a choice made because he was on cryo) and we waited to have him when we where more mutture. Now he is only 8 and has to go through this when he could have been 18 and stronger emosionaly. I am agree with that lack of info the doctors before gave, and now all I hear is that I was suppose to be told. Now its to late.

I want every one to know that this is the end result of only what I know. I do know that they are not going to tell you all the bad, but if we arn't to live past 10 years, say so. If we are to live longer but with this side effect... say so. If we are going to die from this ... say so. I want to know how much more time do I have before my son has to care for me. I want to know how much time I have to spend with my wife before I can not talk to her and move my hands to touch her. HOW LONG.

you should get everything in order asap. pray for yourself, you could live longer. but if the radiation doesn't kill you, just know that you will die, just like everyone else.
